Just to let you know that it was an absess that needed removing. It's very sore but I am so relieved. The consultant was livid because he knew how worried I was and told the nurse who phoned me to tell me it was an absess and nothing worse. Of course, she didn't. Anyway, i'm still so relieved. Thank you so much for all the support you guys gave me. I really, really appreciate it xx

    Great news Mudbath!!!

Not a great evening, swimming was fine but after that I got a bit upset/angry.

    RANT ALERT

Well and truly annoyed, after conversations with a family member tonight I got rather annoyed with them constantly borrowing from family members who can't afford it, basically told them I thought this was wrong, ended up with this family member threatening me via text message repeatedly which has annoyed me big style as I have spent the last several years bailing them out of the !!!!! Only contacts me when they want something, never once in several years just a call to say hello etc always can I borrow/do something for them, crying down the phone that they need money for something for their kids, so really I should be pleased but on the other hand very annoyed and upset that a family member can be so disrespectful. I also worry now who will provide for her kids when she runs out of money (usually on a weekly basis) but I suppose she needs to learn to stand on her own two feet at some point.

    RANT OVER (for now)

Right, housework, I've done erm, nothing, but I suppose I will have to get the night time stuff sorted before bed.
One day I might be more organised...........

  • Lil-me never been in your situation but MIL is, and has been for a while with a family member, it's so hard as you know, you have to get this person to realise they are responsible for themselves-but when kiddies involved, well you can't see them suffer, sorry I've no good advice but I do understand.

ooh.. Lil_me.. you sound like me!! I've actually had that conversation with most of my siblings.. and I won't be the type of parent to loan money to my children willy-nilly.. I think it is better to teach them how to budget the money they do get rather than bail them out every week and them never learn anything by it!! If nothing else you may have ensured they don't ask you again!!

Don't get me wrong I would NEVER see any of my children or family suffer for going without.. but I would never lend or borrow money so they could 'go out'.. I would also never stand idly by while they went without food or adequate clothing through lack of money.. but I would take them and buy them the item/s they needed.

Hugs Lil-me - it's so hard when you fall out with family even though you cringe and wonder what they want everytime they call. I'm sure she'll be in touch again as soon as she needs something. Hugs to you...hopefully she'll learn xx

I've been wondering what the smell in here was and Puddy cat has just come and sat on my knee. She has another absess, this time above her eye. She's rubbed her face on my computer and it's burst. Eughhhh! Eughhhh! and double eughhhhh - oh yes, and poor cat. Maybe she's come out in sympathy. Pigpen...you needn't read on...time for your beauty sleep......

and yes pigpen you were right, it was nothing to worry about! xx

I've done the only sensible thing, let my partner deal with it. He lost his head when I told him I'd loaned her money again as he'd asked me not to because like he said she only ever phones when she wants something, but it was as usual in hope that she wouldn't try to borrow it from Mam, who hasn't got 2 pennies to scratch her backside with which was why I eventually lost my temper when she said 'Well she can go **** off because she won't lend me money' expecting her to take it out on a credit card for her. Which to me is disgusting disrespect for another person who I now know has bailed her out on many occasions. I suppose this now has helped us realise she's constantly borrowing from one of us to repay the other.

What has upset me the most is the disrespect aswell as realising in the last 5 years or maybe more this person has only ever phoned when they want something. Never makes the effort to come and see us unless they want something. Quite sad in all honesty. I'd tried the taking things they needed but then when I think about it that is then just freeing up spare cash for them to use for what they want. Seeing the kids suffer is how she knows she can get me, like tonight when she phoned crying that she needed food for the kids, but that was when I thought 'Wait a minute, you're getting about £300 a week in, not paying council tax or rent etc where is this all going?' then I find out the bits about Mam saying no etc and all the pieces start falling into place.

Anyway, it's just making me cry so I best leave it. Leave DP to deal with the money side of it tomorrow, then try my best to forget about it.

Mudbath, ewwww!!! Wonder why the poor thing keeps getting them, is it a battler who keeps getting injuries fighting which are getting infected or something? I remember a friends cat, named 'sweets' which wasn't sweet and would fight 24/7 if it could used to get them with it's war injuries.

Just been smiling about the car thing when I seen Capri mentioned, few years back my partner called asking 'What would you do if I bought a 1.6 Capri?' I said 'Make sure the boot is big as your stuff will be on the drive waiting for you' :rotfl: he did try to question if I mean't it, so I just said TRY ME! Might have been different if it was a 2.8i or something but a 1.6 laser which was dropping to bits, erm no! So his mate bought it instead and a brakes problem mean't it was parked on my drive for over a month anyway, grr! :rotfl: I hated even walking past it with it's gastly cloth interior and all it's rust!!! I could put up with a nice japanese car, especially a Galant, I love those, or a Stagea, but my partner worked on them for a while and ended up hating them. He does occasionally drive his Mother's car of course, not many Grandmothers drive something like that. That said I think I would cringe when I had to pay for optiflop to run it. I'm trying to put my partner off getting the ECU remapped on the Volvo because it'd need that.

  • Evening all! First of all

Mudbath - I'm so pleased for you and sorry you had to go through that worry first! Stoopid wumman (a la Rene Artois) She could have saved you so much stress. Bug hugs! I used to live in Stirling too! Sorry, but I'm up to address change 28, so you could say I've been around (3 Primary, 3 Secondary schools and 3 colleges in this country and boarding school in Norway) Daughter born in Germany, son born in Bristol!

Shelley - I envy you. I'm planning to do the lounge ceiling tomorrow coz I'm on leave. I've got the whole house to work my way through!

Pigpen - so sorry to hear about Barney. Hugs coming your way. Not much help, I know, but thinking of you. And I hope everything works out with the house. We offered on 3, but withdrew from the first two after surveys, but the third was the one we really wanted anyway! I shan't tell you how inexpensive it was for a 5 bed end terrace in Wales, but we got change from the sale of our 3 bed mid terrace in North Somerset!;) And - I've got a cousin living in your area, and an aunt in a home nearby.

Dusty - Hope you've had a lovely birthday!

SSL - Sorry the funeral was so difficult (not that they're ever easy)

This evening was good! We all assembled in the bar, then DH called off with others to rehearse. Bless him, I've never seen him so nervous! When he came back he had a whisky, went out for a cigarette, came back and went to the loo, had another whisky! One of his officers, Jane, is the Press Officer, so was taking pics, including DS and me. Then we all trooped in and sat down, but they asked us to stand when the Lord Lieutenant arrived to a fanfare from the three buglers! Each of the recipients had to stand when their name was called, the officer read the citation, then they had to march forward and salute, receive the certificate (framed), salute again and march back to their place. The citations were really impressive. Then the LL gave a very short speech about the dedication of those who'd been honoured, and how they couldn't do it without the support of the family and friends who were there. We then went back to the bar while they uncovered the buffet, we had some edibles, one of DH's officers came and chatted to DS, then we came home to warm up! They obviously don't believe in heating. Oh, and sorry, it's a Certificate not an Order of Merit, so still an honour at a high level. Really proud of him.

Anyway, no real flying today - apologies Pigpen, but all dailies done. I'm off tomorrow, so I will be busy with the housework getting as much as possible done and hopefully painting the lounge ceiling as well. I'm not going to post a list but I'll do one of what I manage to do.

Off to bed now, so night night and sleep well all. God bless x

Glad the ceremony went well Pink Fairy - you must be so proud.

Lil-me - don't blame you leaving it for OH to deal with. Sometimes you need to be a bit removed. Our cat isn't a battler, in fact, the nearest she gets to going outside is sitting on the step and letting the wind move her whiskers. She was a beaten up stray when we got her and she is just a very itchy cat. She scratches a lot and then absesses. It's horrid though as an absess can fill up in a couple of hours and stinks. She normally saves them for when we have visitors! She's a real bag lady but we love her.

Right, i'm off to bed. DD is in a music competition tomorrow so I need to be up early. I was going to have an early night but my head was buzzing. Night all xx

Pink Fairy, one of those moments I doubt you will ever forget, well done to your DH and to you and your family for supporting him in what he's achieved, the LL is right (well done to him for mentioning it!), these volunteers are usually backed up by extremely supportive families.

Mudbath, aww poor little thing, sounds like a right little character :rotfl: Good luck to your DD for the competition!!!

Suppose I should go to bed, probably won't sleep much due to thoughts going round and round in my head. Definately mixed emotions which never is good for sleeping on!
