There are a fair few that work full time, some (like me) who work part time, some students. It seems to work for pretty much everyone. The idea is that by doing a little everyday you dont ruin your weekend by spending all day cleaning!

But we do!! OH puts a DW, WM and TD on before leaving for work. I cook dinner when I get in and try and do a bit of tidying/cleaning.

We STILL spend all weekend clearing out some murky corner of the house. We have a shed and a loft FULL of rubbish and its driving us NUTS!!!

  • :hello: Lurkio

I work full time but shifts Lurkio but I've found that flying really helps me to keep on top of the housework so that I don't waste precious days off.

It might help in just picking ONE room to deep clean each week and just swish and swipe the others - that way they all get a good going over every few weeks and if it's just you and OH it probably wouldn't need any more that that, especially if he pitches in to help as well

    I'd rather be watching CSI!
  • Back again! Have now managed to fill 4 carrier bags for charity shop and another 2 for sister (her 2 little ones are younger than the Ginger crew). Right - what shall I cook for supper - its got to be quick and its got to include chicken (bad mother not done shopping this week). Could do breadcrumbs and wedges and veggies or cous cous?? Um, maybe breadcrumbs and wedges as can't cope with DS and DD1 making huge fuss!
Best get off to pick up the little angels as have to go via charity shop to get rid of stuff before they get back and realise what I have done!!!!

  • Hi all

Have been keeping up with you, but not flying. Am moving Thursday, and am now surrounded by boxes

pigpen - thanks for doing the lists
    - re: VHS videos - someone was asking on my Freecycle the other day for old VHS tapes, so if there's a Freecycle near you, it might be worth listing them on there

lurkio - I work full time, as does my DH, and there are a few others here on this thread that do. I work long hours with a long commute, and really resented giving up my weekend to do chores, which is why I joined this thread. What I found was that things that take a long time because they've been neglected (like cleaning the oven  ), take seconds to wipe over once they've been cleaned, and are just ticking over. It takes a while to get going, but the other thing to remember is that it's amazing what can be done in just half an hour. There are lots of approaches you could try, but I recommend just doing Level 1 each day, and then pick a couple of neglected areas over the weekend to tackle. Keep those areas ticking over next week, as well as doing Level 1. If you have time, do level 2 as well. I can't achieve Level 3 every day, never mind the extra tasks, but I try to get to Level 2. On the days I have a bit more time, I get the Level 3s done on anything earlier in the week that needs catching up on. Honestly, once it's ticking over, it's achievable - especially if you have help.
