pretty much every ingredient she uses is a specific brand..
and she even lists them all on her website too: http://www.deliaonline.com/ingredients/
surprised the BBC are actually going to allow this blatant product placement,
am going to watch the show to see how it is presented!0 -
Hi Penny,
Thanks for the heads up but I think I'll be giving it a miss....
I love Delia's recipes and I taught myself to cook by using her 'Complete cookery course' but she drives me bananas with her patronising manner. The 'cheat' recipes aren't real cooking in my opinion, but they must help some people or they wouldn't be aired on national tv.
I've added your thread to a recent one on Delia Smith as it helps to keep the replies together.

Drives me insane and I can only think she's looked at the current trends in TV cookery and thought 'grow me own veg and get back to nature? Too much hard work...... look at Nigella, she's throwing quick recipes together, let's jump on THAT bandwagon'
I hated Nigella's latest series and I am a committed Nigella fan, but she'd sold out. Delia schmelia, she should know betterComps £2016 in 2016 - 1 wins = £530 26.2%

Given the rising costs of transport, it is very disappointing to see Delia promoting a system which takes e.g. potatoes miles from farms to factory, makes them into something simple, then many more miles to supermarkets, then to people's homes - madness.
Re local food, at prices families can afford, Nick Nairn has a feature on the new Landward programme which started at the weekend. It is the Fife Diet - http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2007/nov/21/guardiansocietysupplement.ethicalliving Guardian article
http://fifediet.wordpress.com blog
from the BBC's Landward page:
"Almost one hundred families have signed up to the Fife Diet, limiting their meals to food that's produced within their region. Nick sets out on a four-part journey around the Kingdom of Fife, to discover the finest food from the region and prove that it's more than possible to eat well and eat local - and he's surprised to discover the range of produce available in one small area."
If you missed it, I see you can click on a link on the Landward page:

The program has just started - her first recipe is smoked salmon with quail eggs - she has already used capers and something i have never heard of, all good ingredients that every normal family use!!!!
This is stupid, she started by saying about getting people cooking and putting meals on the table - what about food that people want to eat, can afford to eat, with ingredients that are easy to get hold of!!!0 -

This is not a cooking programme, it should be called 'how to reheat'.0 -
I laughed when I saw her shed full of crockery,I bet that would fetch a few quid on ebay0

I just can't get over the cost of the ingredients used, that fish pie recipe was so expensive if you didn't have any of the ingredients... the programme should come with a wealth warning!0
