I am having the same problem with Studio cards.
I made the mistake of paying my bill on-line. I bank with Barclays, as do Studio Cards, so the payment should of arrived in their account the same day.
The payment actually took 19 days (11 working days) to reach my Studio account, but interestingly it was actually credited to my Studio account on a Saturday.
When I rang to complain about the late payment charge, the customer service girl told me in no uncertain terms that it was my fault because I should of read the terms and conditions which state that on-line payments can take a long time to reach Studio accounts. I did point out that it makes no mention of this on the actual bill. She still refused to refund the charges.
I sent a email on 10th Jan, a letter on 22/1/08 asking for a refund. I wrote again yesterday as I have not received a reply to either.
Studio cards don't give you an option when you order goods of paying straight away, you have to open a credit account with them.
I think we are just paying for their outdated accounting systems. Rather a good ruse to hold onto customers monies in one of their own accounts (probably earning them interest) and then charge customers when their own systems can't transfer monies quickly enough.0
