  • indeed studio cards have been around for years and years and years, as long as I can remember actually. Recently (this xmas) I set up an account with them (had one years ago too) and I didnt have to sign anything to get a credit account, as a previous post-er suggested. They are the same company as ace cards...web addy is 24studio.co.uk ;)
  • You can complain and claim in the same way as you do with the bank charges and get the money back.

Ask them to send you the statements showing all charges, i didnt have to pay any money to get these.

I was having a few money problems and got charged a lot for missed payments and i have reclaimed all my charges from them. Never had any problems sent the 1st letter, got the money back.
    Barclaycard - £281.00 reclaimed :j
    MNBA - £165.00 reclaimed :j
    Studio Cards - £382.00 reclaimed :j
  • twinsmum, you can claim these back the same as the bank charges, just change the word "default" to late payment, theres a post about it here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=353913&highlight=catalog
i claimed £40 back from them a little while ago and i am helping my mil claim £200 aswell, i would never buy from studio again their charges and interest is terrible, good luck twinsmum =]
  • I closed my account down last month.

I was ALWAYS late paying them because there are no 'easy' payment options.

I ended up paying back £20 charges for about 7 months. Glad i got rid

ps - i hope you used Quidco when you were buying your xmas stuff

  • I had to pay a £20 late payment charge on my second month, minimum payment due was only £10 which made me  but I just accepted it as I forgot to pay the bill so it was my own fault.

Next payment I paid via online banking, just searched for Studio with my banks list of company and entered my studio account number, 2 weeks later i recieved a letter about my late payment..... I phoned and told them it was paid and the woman said they don't accept online banking as it can take 6 week to show up at their end  but in my case it was now showing on her computer as paid so she would accept it "just this once" lol

Since then I have phoned up to pay, the payment line is automated and I paid by debit card, lines are open til 10pm weekdays.

But.. I am expecting another charge as I still managed to forget and didn't pay it til the day before the due date, so they probably won't recieve it in time. It's my only bill that isn't direct debit so I tend to forget it.

My OH owed 28p on his studio account but never paid it this month, I have warned him they will probably charge him £20 as he is still technically late. But we will be protesting if they do as its totally out of proportion to the amount owed

Didn't think you woudl be able to do that, but I will give it a go thank you, I only owe them £70.00 so I think I will just pay the whole thing and cancel my account.

  • Do a search on this company in these forums and you will see that they are a bunch of cowboys. They don't send statements and then charge you for not paying. The charges are excessive and the details are very much hidden in the small print. Their tactics are bullying and I would have expected a little more support for TwinsMum on this site.

I am no idiot and have a perfect credit record but got lured into this company by a christmas offer for freebies which they then reneged on. Having only spent £20 they then tried to sting me for £20+ costs for not paying a bill I never received. They did refund me after lots of worry and arguing, but the fact they charge so much and refund when challenged by so many customers says it all really.

You cannot even get through on their 'customer service' number and there are no replies to emails.

Don't criticise as any one of us can be victims to this sort of repulsive company. Spread the word, avoid them like the plague!
But there are dreams that cannot be,and there are storms we cannot weather!
  • I had an account with them 2 years ago and was so glad when i paid it off. There prices are high and the payment options limited. Also found I wasn't receiving statements regularly, so getting late payment chargers. I wouldn't recommend or use again.

Hope I am putting this in the right place I have a small account with studio cards which I tend to use at christmas only, now they don't offer the facility to pay online or through the bank online, so i sometimes forget to pay them as all my bills are set up online, alot of me payments have been late as a result of this, now everytime my payment is late they charge me a whopping £20.00 administration charge (what for) what could possibly cost this much, now I'm not disputing that me payment is late it is. I usulally spend around £100 pound each christmas this can easily turn into £200, sometimes I am not even sure I have had their statements yet I suddenly get a letter stating £20.00 once even £30.00 pounds admin charge any ideas whether I should complain.

Yes their stuff is cheap and you can get some good deals, but I have had lots of invoices where I have been overcharged etc.............. I now do not use them as with every order there has been problems...........

Thank you for your help I am going to write a letter today asking for the charges back I know I must pay some of them becasue the payments were late, but the £20.00 is a bit too much and I am sure that sometimes I don't get their statements when I phone to ask they just say that they were posted on such date. Thank you again.
