That's weird. I wonder if Yahoo will even exist then (considering the way things are going recently). God! I'll be 40 then, which sounds scary (for a 27 yo)."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

When I was 27 I don't think the internet existed.
Maybe it was
Many people think that the Internet is a recent innovation, when in fact the fundamental ideas behind the Internet have been around for over a quarter century.
The development of what we now call the Internet started in 1957 when the Soviet Union launched Sputnik 1, the first satellite, beating the United States into space. The powers behind the American military at the time became highly alarmed as this meant that the USSR could theoretically launch bombs into space, and then drop them anywhere on earth. In 1958 the concerns of people in the US military triggered the creation of the Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).

Couple of points about Yahoo and Gmail.
- Yahoo (free account) can generate temporary email addresses for short-term use, replies all go back to your root account with a single login, so less admin. I think even an email address generator is included which presumably avoids creating an already existing Yahoo address. For Yahoo you can get freeware email programs like Pop Peeper that will monitor your Yahoo account and automatically alert you new emails on your computer. it handles a bit like Outlook Express, stores your emails on your computer in case you go off-line.
- Gmail has loads of hidden goodies in it, in particular you can use it's pop3 smtp service for outgoing email using any internet connection eg airport/hotel wifi, while retaining your legacy pop email address from before Gmail existed. Works with Outlook, Thunderbird email clients etc. Additionally Gmail's Webmail will allow you to compose emails that appear to come from any of your registered outgoing (non-Gmail) pop email addresses.
When you are collaborating with someone using a business email address eg enquiries@ or support@, if you use Gmail in the above way you can share a view of all Sent items (so you can check what the other person replied to).0 -

Yahoo (UK) used to have an integrated send and receive text facility, now sadly removed. At that time Yahoo was nearly perfect for personal email0
