Make your self a Dilaup ISP account like Orange.
DO NOT INSTALL THE SOFTWARE - Just set it up manually.
Then although not free, will only cost you around 50p a year as you have to dial in evey now and then.
I still use a freeserve account that is 9 years old now and Orange now manage that.0 -

Didn't they only just recently do a u-turn on deleting all the freeserve accounts?
Not that I know of, they did delete accounts that people never used (Dialed into) but I have always done it so have never lost it.
What I have set up is modem is disabled in system, I reactivate modem, dial in for 1-2 mins, note the date I did it and do it again in around 2 months time.
Deactivate modem again in system, for resons of security. All this is done while still having broadband active.
The above is aslo handy if you want to send a FAX via PC as ADSL does not let you.0 -
I use YAHOO for my email - I have a GMAIL one too but find yahoo the easiest, never has let me down.Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness. :beer:0

I seem to remember they were going to deactivate all those accounts (well the freeserve branding doesn't exist any more so I guess Orange wanted to homogenise their branding) and they changed that decision when there was an uproar from all their customers over it. I'll look for the article.
Edit: this is what I was trying to remember http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/09/06/orange_rethink_deleted_emails/"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

It supports IMAP and POP3 protcols for three.
You can also transfer 20MB of attachments between Gmail accounts.
