why would you want to price it with 3 years waranty?

So that it is a " like for like " comparison, the Aldi Computer comes with a 3 year warranty.;)

I spent just over that and built my own with a significantly higher spec. It's not difficult to do even with little knowledge of how a PC works.

I somehow doubt that statement, perhaps you may share the costings and spec of your home build.

If medion stood by that 3 year warranty I'll eat my hat. Anyway the dell pc does appear to be of a higher spec.

I bought a medion ..From Staples..It is not only Aldi that sell them ..Woolworths ,Toys R Us and Staples have/do sell them .
This was about four years ago .
The machines are good if you want a reliable average speed machine .
This average speed is usually down to cheaper Ram and motherboads and graphics cards .
The main thing I dislike about my medion is the processor has been literally glued to the cooler .This means I can't upgrade the processor without having to dump the old one ...
So far I have changed the PSU ,Graphics card,DVD writer and stuck in more Ram ...Oh and drilled a big hole in the side to adde xtrea cooling around the GPU ...Most of this was not because of any failuer of the original components Just the average'ness of them.
As a first purchase machine I think you would get your moneys worth with all the bells and whistles ...
If you are into your gaming or are using demanding software ..Then sourcing your own components would be better and more fun .

If you do your research and buy when deals are on (like I did) then its doable. The only thing I didnt cost in was an OS, which I already had.

Well the Medion comes with an OS installed, so there is one cost that you missed out.
  • I purchased the MD8800 a couple of years ago and have had no problems with it. Other people have had problems with Medion PCs. There is a very good support forum for help/advice. http://www.medionsupport.com/phpbb2/index.php
