Any opinion on the Aldi / Medion PC Base Station next Thursday

Is there an alternative at about this price {maybe plus £50} that is good value at the moment?

Don't agree the Medion computer I bought from Aldi 4 years ago only go's wrong if I mess with it and that's with the software. The components in mine are motherboard made by MSI, graphics card ATI, hard drive Seagate, dvd and cd drives by Pioneer, ram by Samsung and even the batteries in the wireless keyboard are the original one,s.russ_gillespie wrote: »I would stear clear. These cheap manufacturers always boast a good spec, but it's usually because the components are from cheaper, lesser known manufacturers, and more likely to fail within the lifespan of a PC.
Sometimes you'll get a good deal that big supermarkets will sell at a loss, but I doubt this is one of them.

I have 2 Aldi Medion PC's, one is approacing 9 years old, the other 3, both are still working fine, never had a problem with either.
Extremely good value.;)
If I needed another, I would be queing outside of Aldi's door for this one.;)0 -
Just to reiterate: Aldi did earn a reputation some years ago for bulk buying quality spec PCs, piling 'em high & selling 'em cheap-for-the-spec. In Germany when they started this, queues went round the block on the release days and they would be sold out same day.
So I hope some of the above OPs are not dismissing the Aldi PC automatically 'cos Aldi is a cheapo food retailer. More recently, Aldi's reputation in things like PVRs and WifFi radios did go down if you read MSE posts (some dissatisfied people posted & made some noise).0 -
why would you want to price it with 3 years waranty?0

glosman555, I dont doubt that you got what you consider a good deal Median PC. All Im saying is I wouldn't spend 400 quid of my hard earned cash on that particular PC.
I spent just over that and built my own with a significantly higher spec. It's not difficult to do even with little knowledge of how a PC works.- Google is your friend, use it :rolleyes:0
