you of course may do what you want but as a new member you won't have seen many misprices on here all the long time members have and know you will not get anywhere with this if you want to waste your time and money over it but remember I have said this, you will not win everytime we get these misprices there are always new members that do exactly what your doing and they never get anywhere.

Why are people on this site so obsessed with Newbie bashing. Just because someone has recently joined that does not mean they are new to viewing the site, they may have just not felt compelled to post before.

Because I have been a member longer than you, does that make my opinion more valid....of course not.

    Hi Showman,
I am a newbie as far as posting on this forum, but have been looking in from time to time over the last 18 months or so, so am not new to the forum as such and have also witnessed many misprices and their outcomes.
However as I'm sure you will agree this is a little bit different to the usual £1.99 TV sets and their like.
There has been some very fundamental mistakes made by B&Q which is not surprising as their main buisness is a Bricks and Mortar one and not an online one.The likes of someone like say Amazon who is a specialist online retailer have all bases covered and tend not to leave themselves open to errors such as this.
It's not just about the money

however B&Q need a telling off and should be sending out at least some vouchers as a sorry!

Yep, I have to say, I would at least be after a voucher. Shudn't be down to you lot to persue for one though ! Maybe if B&Q CS were more sincere and apologetic I would accept just that, but no, they are really useless time and time again it seems.

Sod the new shed, I've arranged to see a new house tomorrow instead :D Might be able to fit the shed in that garden then !! ;)

Sorry I dont agree with you I am not knocking new members I'm pointing out what I know from experience, but if I need to bash a newbie or veteran when they are in the wrong I will and I wont apologise for it, trouble is on here is to many people trying to be "nice" life isnt like that and I do despair when people are offended by the smallest criticism I really do wonder how they cope in the real world if you cant take ctiticism dont post it, simple really, as I've said before what gets me on this thread is people making comments on the legality of what B&Q have done without the majority of them get any legal advice, so go get some legal advice and then if you want post it on here but please stop with all the speculation and how traumatised they have been over it.

I agree with most of what you say and no I am not a newbie so have seen many misprices.

I do think this one is slightly different as they offered it instore at the same price.

Whta I dont agree with is your comment on people speculating about the outcome, which is is exactly what you are doing

Showman, most people on these forums are 'nice' and do not have to try to be and most people can take criticism although I understand not all. However, you are coming across as the only 'abrupt' and 'negative' poster on here in this matter. Mentioning how we can cope in the real world etc. etc. Yes it is a shed and no-one is going to chain themselves to B&Q and fast until they get one. I really don't think anyone is 'traumatised' over it - although if you are now is your chance to correct me on that.

We would like the garden room and we would at least like more than just the letter as an apology. Remember, there are other factors in this than just the price error and unless some of us pursue we are not going to know the outcome. If we end up getting nothing then I will post back here and say - yes, I hold my hands up - you were right we got nothing and we will learn that if there is another misprice and we do not get it, it is not worth pursuing. However, if we do post back and say well, actually we got something, are you going to say sorry - I was wrong it was worth pursuing?

Showman, I may be a 'Newbie' but I am wise to the world!

I still think of the old saying 'Customer is Always Right', I think there is so much in this country of people just rolling over and accepting what is said to them,
I am sure if we challenge a lot more people will sit up and spend the resource,so things do not happen like this, and that is improving the customer service. Mistakes occur yes, and quite a few people have mentioned the past.

Move on, this is different this was not a simple mistake!

Very true words. I would not like to be B&Q's lawyers on this one!

As Kippygirl says quite true !
Those that were sold in store and over the phone will be significantly different to those bought online. for obvious reasons the online T's and C's will not apply.

If the 'reserve the right' term is not part of store/phone ordering, does this make the term 'unfair' for web orders?

More light reading on unfair terms...

    http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/business_leaflets/unfair_contract_terms/oft143.pdf

    Extract.... (my bold highlights)
    Unfair cancellation terms
    paragraphs 1(f), (g), and (h) of Schedule 2
Eg, we reserve the right to cancel any order at any time by refunding all monies paid.
This contract is not subject to cancellation by the customer.
After expiry of the initial term, three months notice of cancellation is required.
The law generally makes each party continue with a contract unless the other is in serious default. Wide cancellation rights for suppliers are liable to be considered unfair unless consumers have equal freedom to opt out of the agreement. A term which in effect means the supplier can cancel to suit its own financial advantage, or for trivial reasons, is open to particular objection if the consumer is likely to suffer loss or inconvenience. If the supplier can cancel without notice, except on serious grounds, there is also potential unfairness.
