Well B&Q rang today... "It's a mistake and we are canceling”. Short and not-at-all-sweet. They will confirm in writing, they cash has probably been refunded. (If you are watching this B&Q – at the very, very least tell your people to say sorry).
By sheer chance I bumped into a barrister who does contract law… his reaction – “You have them by the b*lls, don’t let go” – “next stop trading standards” – “I’ll do court for you”. I’m not an expert, but I found even that reaction surprising! Maybe not over yet?
Interesting!
Short and not-at-all-sweet because there are so many orders to get through?
They probably don't say sorry as that would be an admission of an error.
If someone gets the phone call soon, it may be worth asking which part of the T&C's they are cancelling the contract under? The letter will make interesting reading.
Thanks for the update OneSandal.0 -
Ive been following this thread with interest, since saturday, the day the offer was shown to me, and also the day ordered and paid for my GR3.
Today, i also had a phone call from a lady called Lynn at B&Q headoffice. She also informed me that the order was cancelled and the money from my wifes credit card was to be refunded. A letter explaining will soon follow. Again they mention their T&C ...... reserve the right........ so i mentioned trading standards and that i as a customer shouldnt have to forefeit something just cos someone made a mistake, they should take it up with the person/company who made the error.
I tried to make them feel bad by telling them it was for my daughters 4th birthday (which is was saturday gone) and how she was looking forward to her new play house, but i dont think they cared much.
What should we do? can we get together to fight this??
I didnt save the actual B&Q webpage, but i did save other which linked to B&Q and show the reduced price.0 -

I refer you back to my earlier post sound familiar?Agree 100% wait and see but it usually goes like this
someone finds the misprice
everyone orders the misprice
some plank rings up and gives the game away:mad: (not naming any names you know who you are!)
everyone x's their fingers in anticipation
wild rumours abound the forum
company cancels orders
everyone then becomes a legal expert
threats of legal action and suing the company which then leads to......
b*gger all! and much gnashing of teeth and cries of I'll never deal with (enter company name here) again.
2 weeks later die hards are still waiting on a miracle
someone finds another misprice..........
and away we go again!
as for our member that has a barrister for a friend I find this post hard to believe for one reason only, I've never found a barrister who will even scratch his nose unless he's being payed for it let alone represent someone pro bono0 -
can anyone find a misprice over a tv i could do with one of them????????Inside me lives a skinny woman crying to get out - but I can usually shut her up with cake!0

No, most companies selling TV's have better T&Cs! Such as stating that "Acceptance of your order and the completion of the contract between you and us will take place on despatch to you of the products ordered unless we have notified you that we do not accept your order or you have cancelled it"
The difference in this case is B&Q state the contract is formed when the payment has been received. But I'm not even pretending to be a legal expert (honest!), we need a proper one instead!0 -

LOL - you don't work for B&Q do you?
I never said he'd work for free, but legal costs can be recovered, assuming you win.
KevShek - acting together is a good idea, but trading standards are county by county and that's the only starting point I can see. Unless some can advise otherwise?0 -

I think it would be the county of B&Q's headquarters?
But it's probably a little early for that just yet! Mind you I was planning on having the shed up in time for Easter!0 -
Yes I am the official B&Q mole and I live in a hole but I want to live in a shed but they wont give me one! the sheds are mine I tell you,all mine!!!!!!!!!!!0
