  • The OP is a woman by the way, she mentioned an ex husband.
  • do you have to leave an email when you join? In light of the feelings that she has is it possible to contact her that way.

  • 10 years ago I had a 20k debt - with little to no income,a new wife and a kiddy on the way. I know its a cliche but it is "always darkest before the dawn" - I went bankrupt, and my life slowly turned around.

The people on here are worried about you - but running away wont help. Some of the people have "Proud to be Dealing with my debt", and that is so correct.

There are so many intelligent and experianced people on here that can help in ALL circumstances.

    It IS only money.
  • her son has to grow up a bit earlier in the circumstances, and if made aware of what is happening will I'm sure look to bring some sort of money in to ease the burden, even if only to cover his own living expenses,

I agree - and in later years he will be proud of having done so.

Can we not forget Carry either. She was obviously in a very bad way, and she hasn't logged on since 30th January.

Carry, if you're reading this, please let us know you're ok. As you can see, there are lots of people who are worried about you. We can help you sort things out and, no matter how you're feeling at the moment, you will be able to deal with them.

    Hi ivehadenough
Many years ago due to my ex husbands spending we declared ourselves bankrupt.
I was stuck at home with 2 young children while he liked to go out and mix with his well to do friends (he belonged to the "funny handshake brigade" ) and tried to keep up with them.
At the time we were in rented accomodation and many a time i struggled to put food on the table for the kids,he didn't pay the bills(prefering to spend it on his friends in the pub) and i used to dread getting up in the morning to see the post laying on the mat and to deal with the inevitable (SP) phone calls.
I felt very alone as i felt too embarassed to talk to anyone about it ( i wish sites like this had been around then) and he was always to drunk to talk about it:mad:
Anyway to cut a long story short we did declare ourselves bankrupt and it was like a weight had been lifted (can't explain the relief!!)and although a very small notice went in the paper nobody really knew (i wish they had as he might of changed! )
We stayed in the same house and the only difference it made to us was that we had to have a pre paid gas/electric meter put in.
If sites like this had been available at that time i daresay we might not have had to go down the bankruptcy route.
I just want you to know that i used to feel so low, couldn't sleep and had that sick feeling in the pit of the stomach on a daily basis as i couldn't see anyway out, but my kids kept me going.
It was a very dark despairing lonely time but we did come out the otherside.

I am not saying you will need to go down the bankruptcy route as we dont know your details but if the worst came to the worst it is not the end of the world.
I just wanted you to know that i and many of the others have had or have similiar situations but it doesn't need to be as bleak as it appears.
Please come back and talk to us.

I hope this hasn't come across as too much of a ramble (or made you go to sleep :rotfl: )as although i know what i want to say i can't always write it IYKWIM
