I didn't even know you could print off a covernote from the internet. But I agree they should not accept them at PO.

The whole system is just pants if you ask me.

We don't need tax discs anymore, with computerised MOT and computerised Insurance.

Insurers should be required to be linked up live to the MID (Motor Insurers Database) and when you start a policy or cancel one it should be instantly updated on the MID.

Even if you/govt want to keep the draconian tax disc there should be available from post offices a temporary 1 - 3 day version.

Don't buy a car at 6pm unless you have already seen it in the daylight.

What you can do is drive at night but also because 2 vehicles are doing the return run, drive the non taxed vehicle in front with the 100% legal vehicle closely following behind, then the legal vehicle is shielding the dodgy vehicle from curious eyes.

Ah, but if you get followed by a police car with ANPR fitted you're still stuffed!
And they are doing the rounds here with a vengeance - they are even using 'plain clothes' cars!
    :j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

You won't be followed at least not directly behind which is the whole point. and because it's dark if an oncoming ANPR vehicle were to pass you from the front, there's a good chance your head lights will obscure the cameras view. But at least you have eliminated the major threat (from behind).

Sorry, misunderstood about where the police car would be - I've had a long week!
And every trip I've had out of the office, I've seen these ANPR 'operations' this week - it makes me nervous!

if i was you i'd just drive it as Wig has said
it's kind of rare for you to be stop
there's millions of uninsured/untaxed and even illegal drivers on the road
so i doubt you'd get caught
unless your young or look young (police tend to stop those rather than older drivers)
drive sensibly and don't attract any attention (i.e. looking around nervously)
    lol

Well isn't that just dandy! What happens if you are, for any reason, involved in an accident which results in you or anyone else being seriously injured (or worse) and having no tax invalidates your insurance or maybe you would not even insure the car? Think again, buddy!

Wkdwill, congrats on getting your car, hope all is okay with it and it serves you well.
