Daily budget for holiday in Lanzarote?

I am going to Lanzarote at Easter for a week (courtesy of DH parents - lovely of them or we would not be able to afford!) We (DH and DD who is 14) are self-catering and when we have been before we have eaten breakfast and lunch in the apartment and then gone out for an evening meal. Days will be spent (hopefully) sunbathing and will involve a trip to the waterpark and a trip up the mountains.

We always seem to spend a fortune though and I just wondered, what does everyone else consider a reasonable daily budget?

  • my husband and i went there last december on a cheapy and we spent about £15 each per day, Most of the time we ate lunch in the apartment (crusty fresh bread, cheese and tomatoes - mmmmmmmm) then went out for dinner, loads of places had special offers on, i remember paella, salad and a beer looking across the sea for 7 euros each!! You could also buy a cooked chicken for 3 euros, again, chicken/pasta in the apartment. If you like chinese, we ate at an all you can eat for 6 euros excluding drinks..... enjoy your holiday..... wish i was going!!!!!

    Hi,

We(me & OH) have never self catered in lanzarote, but do in Rhodes every year. Last year we spent £950 over a 14night holiday & this included 3 trips & all our food. Some days we had lunch out, other we had fruit & bread, crisps etc in the apartment. We usually had a few beers in the day & also in the bar on a night on our return from the evening meal. We ate out every night & usually we had 1 starter, 2 mains & 1 pudding. I do starter & he does puddings, we would also have a liter of wine with it. I suppose it depends on what you have to spend we could have spent a lot more if we had eaten lunch out everyday but tried to mix & match so it did not get too much. Everyones differtent so i suppose it's hard to give you an exact figure. Just remembered we had the air con for a week out of this as well.

hope you have a great time.

If we got SC we budget for £100 per day, if we go AI we budget for £50 per day.
This includes all our holidays spends including the odd days car hire & the odd day trip.
Some days spend by the pool we don't spend much of it, but then on a day out we will use more.
Thats for two adults, but when our daughter comes with us its the same, as shes 20 now & will have her own money (but we would still be paying for her food & stuff).

I can't remember what we spent, but we had a lovely time and I wish I was coming with you! Just a tip when you're at any of the Manrique sites (which I thoroughly recommend, do note the design differences in each set of toilets!) the prices for food and drink can be a bit steep IMO, but sometimes there's a free drink with your entrance ticket, so take advantage of that!

i thought id need 100euro a day when i went to greece. to be honest i was fine with 1 meal a day... i spent most of the day drinking water or had like a bacon roll.

very strange as in england i need to eat every few hours...

but if u travelin with kids, ull eat when they eat... so therefore very often... as they always want this n that snack...

    Hi there shopaholictiedtheknot.

I live in Lanzarote. (Yes, I know... I'm a bit smug about it). :D

If you let me know which resort you'll be staying in... I might be able to help with some hints and tips for you.

Ha ha ha ha Sue! Could be an idea! Let me know if I can sort in anyway... or if you need suggestions for a venue - but no, I'm not getting the first round in! :o) I'm actually having a mini forum meet tomorrow in Playa Blanca - much vino will be poured methinks.

PS: Awful weather the last couple of days - but should be clearing up tomorrow onwards - yippee!
