    Hi Epiphany

We started our DMP last year with approx £89000 debt . All our creditors have now acceted the plan with only one continuing to charge interest. When we started the plan we were at rock bottom, with continual threatening phone calls and letters. however I can honestly say that it was the best thing we ever did.
We now have enough to live on ,can pay our monthly bills and generally are in a much better place.
We were given the option of DMP longterm or a shorter term IVA by payplan. the DMP suited us better however I guess everyone is different.
Wish you all the best whatever you decide.

    Hi All,

Joined about a fortnight ago but haven't posted much as have had a horror of a fortnight (family health rather than finance probs). Have still been keeping up to date on the thread, so thanks for everybody's posts as they really help when life is going a bit mad. I am going to get on with my CCCS stuff this weekend and at moment am still hoping that my DMP can start 1st April.

With regards to Court papers I have just been dealing with this for my dad by coincidence he has received such papers out of the blue on a credit card he has never had so I am sorting it out for him. The papers and guidance isn't brilliant but if you don't panic and read it really carefully (that is not meant to be patronising, they forms aren't very clear) it does tell you what to do. I haven't needed to ring the court but I have read on MSE that they are helpful if you do, so just give them a call if any probs.
I've still got photocopies of dad's papers handy so PM me if you think it would help.

    Tara x

Timetobefree, I have had the same thing with the 1%. M&S said they will default me as I cannot offer anymore than that, so be it, that's all I can afford. I think the amount offered depends on your I & E. Payplan did mine for me and I have more to live on now than I had before when I was borrowing from one cc to pay another. Had a letter today from a DCA saying that RBS had sold them my loan. Nothing I can do about it now but will sort it first thing on Monday. Take care, you have done the right thing. Strange, this thing called money that is now in my purse...............

Hi there guys, you'll have to excuse my ignorance but I'm debt free and trying to get my sister the same! Have read with interest that some people (Rayday mainly) have set up their opwn DMP. I've downloaded the information and template letters off national debtline for sis and just wonder what the following creditors are like?

    Black Horse
    Abbey Loan
    Abbey Credit Card
    Welcome Finance
    GE Loans
    GE Credit card

Are these people likely to giver her problems?

Would really appreciate your help as she's in quite a state.

Welcome to all our new friends!:D

Mumzy - Firstly well done to you on taking the first step towards sorting out your debts. I am on a DMP with CCCS and have been for 12 months. When you receive your pack from CCCS there is a form for you to photocopy and send to all of your creditors. Send this along with any token payments to them recorded delivery. Do this as some may say they haven't received anything from you. Quote your CCCS reference number and include a short letter requesting they only contact you in writing (letters are not half as scary to deal with as phone calls).
I would recommend opening a new bank account before you send the letters so they cannot clear out any money prior to the DMP starting. Set up any DD and SO for priority payments (mortgage, council tax, water rates and utilities) do not give new bank account details to any of your creditors. You may receive unpleasant calls or letters at first but please don't get too stressed. It takes a little time to settle down at first but I can wholeheartedly say that it is the best thing I have ever done and it does get better and a lot less scary!

    Take Care

edited to say that i forgot to mention CCCS do not take any payment for administering your DMP all the money gets paid off your debts

GirlRacer I have only had dealings with GE out of your list. Initially, they wrote and said no chance and we don't agree because you have been using your card (which was untrue) but I have read they do this to a lot of people who start a DMP. About 2 months later they wrote agreeing to the DMP. They sold one of the debts on but the new owners of the debt were no bother at all and it is now cleared as it was one of the smaller ones.

Thankyou i have already opened a new bank account, so im fine on that one, how do you mean a token payment? do i send a cheque? why do i need to sned a token payment whatever it may be? On CCCS website thier booklet for me said pay £48 a month,,so do i just pay DMP CCCS £48 a month SO or whatever..how do they then go and pay my creditors?
How do i go about provident? As she calls at my door and im not good with telling people im in debt and saying im now ona DMP Could i just leve that off my list of credtors and pay £48 to every one else but carry on normal with privident of £10 a week?
