I am so glad I watched GMTV that morning, can't even remember what I checked their website out for, probably the lose 5 stone in a week diet :D but I am so glad I clicked on their site and found this one. I would have still plodded along unhappily struggling to pay debts and swim through the brown stuff every month. Thanks to you guys I found the link to CCCS and asked for help. I now see new people joining here every day and wonder just how many poor souls are out there struggling under a mountain of debt just like we are/were?

No matter the route as long as the destination is the same :D

    Hi,

Just joined the forum today and started a thread on Debt management companies - thanks to you lot I am ditching the fee paying company(£597! plus pay them 5% fee of debt written off) and going with CCCS. Booked an appointment with CCCS to start a DMP. They got me hook line and sinker at my lowest! You all have saved my sanity with your support.
Can I join please as it is also going to be a long haul getting rid of my debt and we can keep each other focused on the goal - NO DEBT!

    Cheers

    Hi

Why should you put your debt into your signature? I had mine when I started here but then took it away and started to concentrate on more positive things. Perhaps you could make up a silly challenge on saving some extra pennies for your F&F (even if it is just something really little per day) and then celebrate that progress in your signatures?

I am sorry to promote my thread constantly but I just updated it and there are so much fun to get stuck in that I can't help but put the link here again: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=767513

    Have fun!

Actually I was thinking about taking my debt out of my signature. Not because I'm embarrassed and certainly not in front of you guys but someone did make a comment on another thread and that made me a little self conscious. However what I have done is if I post in another section I just disable my signature for that particular post.

I couldn't tell people at work, they would just be too judgemental and ask me how the hell I got myself in so much trouble, thing is I don't know myself; was it down to greed? the fact credit was made too available to me at the time? or the fact I just kept plodding along hoping one day I would get it sorted but just didn't know how to.

You'll probably find a few of them on here already.....I used to think the same about my friends/people at work, but it turns out quite a few people are in the same position. Made me feel more normal!

For all you newbies out there, just take one day at a time and be proud that you are dealing with your debts. I have got to the stage where my DMP is just a way of life (a better way of life) thanks to all the support on this thread. I feel sorry for all the souls who are struggling at the moment but hopefully one way or another they will find their way out eventually. You guys are the only people who know what a predicament I have found myself in apart from my husband who has been great. I don't really feel the need to share my debt problems with anyone else because I know I can always come on to this 'club' and get the support I need. I was a bit surprised yesterday when I had call from India for HSBC re my cc saying that my debt would be passed onto a DC if I couldn't come up with some more money. I just replied, matter of factly, as suggested on this thread many times, 'As you are aware I am in a DMP with PP so you need to direct your correspondence to them and please don't phone here again'. Bless him, he was a bit taken aback and almost apologised for disturbing me. Now, pre DMP I would have been in a cold/hot sweat and feeling dizzy with the worry. The times they are a changing...........

Just wanted to join in the huge group hug that's going round today! :kisses3:

Without this board I would be a mess, my husband knows about our debts but it's really left for me to sort out and he signs on the dotted line. It's not an ideal situation but it's what I've got and I deal with it the best way I can.

We should all be proud of ourselves for taking the hardest step to acknowledge our problem and deal with it head on. We've nothing to be ashamed of, we want to pay back what we owe, it may take years but we'll get there and then really appreciate the journey we've been on.

    Keep posting! :D
