I did cry during my call, I think they're used to it
.
I also cried when the lady from M&S credit card said "don't worry we all make mistakes and at least you're sorting it out".
In fact I cried quite a lot at the start.

Oh yes, that's me too. In fact I've been on the DMP a year now and was sobbing down the phone to CCCS for the first time last month as I didn't have enough money for car tax and MOT let alone if the car failed the MOT!! They were sooooo incredibly nice and sorted out a reduced payment for that month and it was a huge relief.
But at the beginning I knew they would only have to ask "how did you get into debt" and I'd have started off and not been able to talk!!
The fact that CCCS had an online option was the number 1 reason for me choosing them over Payplan. I started my whole DMP with no phone calls at all, everything was via website, email or post.
That's me! I will just stutter, hiccup and sniff at them and then be even more embarrased than I am already am about everything!0 -

I thought I could sort it out myself - with a loan. And another loan. And another loan. And I thought I could sort it out with a credit card with a lower interest rate - but they refused. And then got refused a loan to consolidate and thought an increased overdraft would help - but got refused that too.
Shows how thick I was !!! :rotfl:
Honestly, the DMP is the best thing I did financially. I only wish I'd done it years ago :rolleyes:working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
If you don't take the step to let CCCS or Payplan help you sort things out, what else are you going to do?
Look at www.cccs.co.uk and decide whether to fill in the debt remedy option here: https://www.cccs.co.uk/debtremedy/(S(kllda42otlfekef02oo5zl45))/start.aspx?hp=2 or whether to ring and speak to payplan or CCCS.
Just decide whether online or on the phone is the better option for you and then - get some help!! It's such a relief when you realise they can help you and WANT to helpworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
That's me too. I took out a big (about £27k) loan at 17.9% because that's all I could get. I am just so ashamed and can't bear the thought of my friends and family knowing what an idiot I have been. Sick feeling again.0

My debt was over £35k when I signed up. And at the time I accrued most of it - I was living at home with my parents and driving an old banger!!!! I just put down on the form that I was over-reached on credit and no-one at all has ever ever questioned this.
I've been an idiot - not any more - as soon as you reach out for help, you are no longer an idiot because you are trying to sort it out and make it right - just most of us need some help to do thatworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

Oh my goodness, please please call or go on line today, I promise you, this time tomorrow you will wonder why you were so nervous about it! I called payplan nearly 4 weeks ago, took me years to realise I had a debt problem, thought I could sort it out myself (BIG mistake) Like most people, borrowed more and said that will sort it all out, how wrong!
I decided to call payplan and it took me 2 days to work up the courage. They were lovely and very proffessional. They did not ask why I had the debt, did not judge or comment. When I put the phone down, the releif was instant, I had the best night sleep in months.
4 weeks on, all my creditors have been written to by payplan, I have spoken to a couple of them myself (as they were calling) they took down my PP ref number and said no problem, we await further instruction from PP and they have now stopped calling.
The best advice I can give you, is to call or go on line about your DMP ASAP and join this forum and post any queries or worries you have. You will get loads of help and support from everyone!!!!!!
Be strong, I know it is pants but trust me, it will be the best thing you do
