Am currently helping my sister sort out her DMP. Just in case anyone is worried about dealing with Next Directory I just wanted to say how fab they've been. Have negotiated a payment of £5 per month for the next 6 months on a balance of £1200.
Next Directory were one of the first of my creditors to sell the debt on. Having said that the company they sold it on to have been no bother whatsoever. It's interesting to see how various creditors are so inconsistent with how they deal with people.
M&S have started whacking interest on to our account again. From what I read here though it seems normal that they start to add interest again. The problem is the interest is more than the payment. Any views?0 -
Hi Tass,
M&S have been great with us 9 months into DMP, accepted really quickly and 0% interest. We have two accounts with them. Can I ask when they started putting interest on your account?

I didn't get a basic account (most of these don't give you a cheque card or a visa debit card - often just a cash card so you have to live on cash). I got a proper current account but requested no overdraft. DMP's mean you can have a cheque account, but must not get any more credit (ie overdraft).
But, if you are already suffering from bad credit rating (which I'm not sure is too likely as you are still just about meeting your payments) then you be refused a current account and may have to apply for a "basic" account with only a cash card.
I got accepted for a basic account but I get an electron card which can be used in a lot of shops now and to withdraw cash at link cash machines. I was declined a regular current account even though I requested no overdraft so that was my only option. It's all I need though. Just need somewhere to deposit my pay as they only pay by bacs. If they paid by cash I would have no problem living without a bank account at all.;)DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 19017/05/08 - Total on DMP: £10025.7007/05/14 - Total on DMP: £1666.20 DFD: July 2017!!Baby Tomos born 5th June 2009 - 6lb 5oz :jWeight Loss Target - to lose 60.8lb by NYE 2015 - 37.6lb TO GO0 -
That's terrible.
I've arrears on my bank loan too, and because i've a few PayPal bank transfers going in over the next few days am worried they might do the same to me as soon as the money hits my account. Have you applied for a new current account yet? I did that yesterday with Lloyds, so fingers crossed!
When I spoke with CCCS this morning I mentioned my PayPal query. The lady I spoke to coudn't promise anything, but she thought I might be able to include my PayPal credit card on my business expenses list and keep it that way, opposed to adding it to my DMP. Fingers crossed there too!!
I have just opened another current account with the co-op so have started transferring my pay and paypal money into that account. Although my pin number hasn't come through yet. I hope it's not long. I've got £25 until it does. Hi, I'm on a DMP with CCCS, debts in total over £44k, been on the plan now for 6 months and really feel like i'm getting somewhere, even managed to make some cutbacks and increase my payment to them.
However i still have one major bug and that is Lloyds TSB, all my other creditors have stopped or reduced interest and fees and i can see the balances reducing. With Lloyds they are still charging me an account fee (for an account i don't use) and adding a pile of interest each month.
This month put the icing on the cake, i had a phonecall saying that my payment plan had come to the end of it's 6 month life and it needed re arranging with cccs - the next day i had a letter saying they'd amended the authorised overdraft to £100 and that a payment that had been requested (account fee) was unable had forced me to exceed my authorised overdraft and i was all of a sudden going to start receiving daily penalty charges!
I phoned them up and went ballistic at them, but they were next to useless - the end result is that in the space of a week, they've added on more fees and charges than i've physically paid them in the last 6 months of DMP payments putting my debt with them higher than it was when i started! and they couldn't see why i was getting angry!
Sorry not looking for any advice i just wanted to Rant! if anyone else has has a similar experience and managed to get anything sorted with lloyds please let me know how!
I've got an appointment at my branch next week which i'm looking forward too, especially as it's right after the dentist so i'll be looking for some payback!0 -
Hi, your not the only one having grief with Lloyds (see my earlier post). Yesterday they refused to accept my DMP because there was a 1 day difference in the date that Payplan paid them - therefore they said it wasn't a regular payment. Another £200+ in charges. They are my only difficult creditor. I've gone out of my way to be cooperative yet they really are a pain. If anyone has any advice on who to complain to, I'd really appreciate it.LBM : March 2008

We are into our fifth year on our DMP - they started adding interest again a few months ago. We also have two accounts with them.0 -
Hi everyone
Many thanks for all the help and advice I have been given. Me and OH set up a Classic Plus Bank Account with Lloyds today, and told them we didn't want a credit card or an overdraft. Our creditors are not linked to any of them, just as well reading some of your horror stories about them!
In the next month, I will be sorting out getting OH's salary paid into it and the DDs. Then I will do the dreaded 'cancelling' the direct debits to our creditors, scared about that bit! I know I can cancel the DD to the CC companies and then send them a token payment. But confused about our 3 loans. They don't send statements with a payment slip at the bottom, as part of the Loan Agreement is you have to pay by direct debit, so not sure how to pay them a token payment.
Any advice?
