I agree Rayday - is the monthly charge really worth it particularly when you're on a DMP?

and... I'd be really interested to know what happens if someone doesn't keep up their monthly payment?

I'm undecided  but don't think it's for me.

Just thought i'd check in and say hi to everyone! Had a lovely monthly statement from MBNA, it looks like i've missed a payment and have been charged £12 for going over my limit, plus another £12 for cancelling my DD. They want £300+ to get me below my limit, is it normal to think that I should pay it? Will they keep adding charges or should I just wait for Payplan to speak to them? I think the latters he best bet.

Got my GCSE marking done, now just the A level stuff. Tody was a real struggle in work as I was knackered - did anyone else feel drained today?
Right, going to watch an episode of 'Shameless' now and got to sleep.

    Night all

    Hi itsnowtime,
Good luck with the collection charges,i challenged HFC and their horrible solicitors(Restons) by asking them for a full breakdown of these charges.
When i got to the hearing Restons didnt turn up and they had written to the judge withdrawing the collection charges. They are only after 1 thing-a charging order.
    Good luck tomorrow,

I let my companies charge what they liked then once they had either accepted the plan and stopped interest I moaned if the charges had been taking the pee - or with Lloyds who took over 9 months with an overdraft I wrote a formal letter of complaint and forced their hands into accepting the payments and stopping and refunding interest.
  • Good morning folks.

We have now been allocated a personal finance manager with Payplan, as we are in the plan for a long time. It makes us sound like high flyers with oodles of money doesn't it?

Very quiet on the creditor front which is a little unnerving to be honest. Of course, now I have said this, all hell will break loose!

    :)

    Hi

Just had my review with payplan and they were really nice. Managed to up my payments a bit (£31.18 extra per month) and knocked off a year and a bit from my DFD :T:T:T

    Good luck to everyone

    Thanks Ray

Made a boo boo though. I forgot to include the year I have been on the DMP so DFD has reduced by 7 months. Still great news and surprising how a little extra can bring forward that date. My main aim really is be Debt free by the time I am 50. Unfortunately that is only 4 and a half years away .

    Whoopie.

Dont worry about the silence from the creditors. Make the most of it and good luck

Thanks - just realised how near 40 is now  - but should be debt free by then, as long as I don't have to decrease my dmp payments much! - got over 4 years to go ;)

Well done on reducing your dfd. Just think, if you save your current DMP payment for those 7 months - how much you'll have and what you could spend it on!!! ;)

Me, I'm planning a two week holiday somewhere hot. And then skiing. I miss both of those - but honestly didn't really have the money to do them - hence the credit card debt :o
