I`m having a bad time with my creditors at the moment.
Crapital One sent me a statement last month saying that they were stopping interest:j but they also said I must clear the arrears(upto going on the DMP I always had made mininum payments so wasn`t in arrears)and make a regular payment of £35 a month!
I couldn`t pay off the arrears as I`m on a tight budget with CCCS and also CCCS had said they would pay them £21 a month and that I shouldn`t pay them anymore as the other creditors would think I was favouring them!
So this morning I got a statement off them they have added a £12 fee for failure to pay default arrears and added on £35 in Interest as well as nearly £20 a month for Payment Protection(ha ha)that I`ve told them TWICE to Stop as it`s a waste of time!!
Also having a hard time with MBNA not stopping interest,RBS have sent me 3 nice defaults as well as EGG doing the same, the only ones who have been decent are HFC who sent me a nice letter saying that they would stop interest for 6 months and then review it again."Life is short even in its longest days".0 -
hi everyone this is my first post, but have been reading with interest for weeks now. you have all been inspiration to me. I had my lightbulb moment in feb just gone .we knew (dh and me) had alot of debt but just kept our heads frimly in the sand never adding it all up!!!!! when i did i felt sick.credit cards paid for food etc.in fact we wee both in tears. Its the old old story of spending more than earning, taking up offers of loans, cc, etc etc anyway I rang debt help line. the wonderful lady on there made me feel energized. and I no longer feel a failure.we have been accepted with CCCS and TODAY MADE THE FIRST PAYMENT. I have got to say I felt so proud. We have a long way to go with 12 creditors (90k gulp) but at last it feels like theres a light at the end of the tunnel.(I can see the glint!!). the best thing for me is being happy to come home not worry about letters and being happy to answer the phone. A BIG THANK YOU to you all for helping me get switched on so to speak.I am so proud to be dealing with my debts
Hi gonna be (me too by the way!)
Thank you for your post, it has helped me make my decision. I couldn't decide between CCCS or going it alone, as I thought it might give me more felixibility. We owe £120,000 (ish) - and i was really worried that someone might try to bankrupt me. But i have decided that i cannot worry about these things until (IF) they happen. So we will be paying £1500 to CCS which is quite a big payment which seems to make a difference in how creditors deal with your DMP I think.
Anyway keep posting and telling us how you are getting on.
Thanks also Carlos for your posts and Rayday (I think the self administered route might stress me out too much - i deal wth idiots all day at work and don't think i could come home to deal with another lot! - but thanks a million for all your advice)

If you are worried give them a ring!!! Soon after sending the info to them they will send you a pack back with your financial statement and how much they are going to pay each creditor out of your monthlky payment, also how much and when and how to pay the CCCS!!! It does take a couple of weeks... but like I said give them a ring!! Don't ring your creditors... mine are claiming they never got any infor from me or CCCS then tripping themselves up by saying oh it said this or that in your info!!!!Total Debt March 2008 - £9232.19  Virgin loans £5188.80, Halifax OD £2,456.94, Barclaycard £699.60, Virgin Credit card £532.25, Capitalone £354.60 (no idea as they refuse to send me statements now! updating figures as I get them!) Defaults can be a good thing sometimes that means they are going to start accepting your payment plan - somtimes! Or that they are referring onto a debt collection agency who will accept payment plans. Unfortunately there is no procedure carved in stone.
There are template letters on National Debt Helpline website you could send about stopping interest - but to be honest its early days and I think CCCS probably do all that so its up to you.
Certainly with regard to captial one if you can prove with statements you were not behind then I would copy them and the letter that said what they would do and tell them they can only have the offer you have made as its a fair pro rata system that favours no individual companies.0 -
Hi all, thanks for reading. I have put this as a main thread but thought as you guys have been with me for so long through the DMP I felt rude not to ask you lot.
As some of you may be aware already, I am in a DMP with the CCCS. I will have been in the DMP for a year next month and am now in a much stronger financial situation than I was when I started, so much so that I am thinking I could come out of the DMP.
Basically, when my yearly review comes up I'm sure the CCCS will not see me as being in as much need of help as I was.
My mum has very kindley offered to open a low interest credit card in her name and allow me to transfer as much of my debt onto her card as I can, thus paying off my current creditors who will no doubt raise their interest the minute that I am out of the DMP.
Does anyone have any views on this proposal? Does it sound like it could work or are there other ways in which I can lower the interest outside of a DMP?
Thanks all.Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
Personally I would wait until your review and see what they say and what the companies reactions are to higher payments. Then if the interest is higher than what your mums card is you always have that plan.
On the down side I am not sure I would want to transfer any monies onto a credit card especially one that is in someones elses name. You know we see in the news about cards raising interest to enormous levels with a months notice, of calling payments in. That is without the fact that famalies can fall out and money defiantely can make a huge factor in fall outs!
But it is your DMP and your choice I just think no one in the country knows what the finance world is like this year, and I wouldn't want to bring someone else into my "problem" if you like.0 -
Absolutely gutted today. Both DH and I got letters from HFC asking us to fill in new I & E sheets so emailed CCCS to ask them to send one out.
That was OK but when I looked at the amount HFC say we still owe..my total is £200 more than CCCS have on the statement and DH's is £300 more!
That means they have added charges and wiped out the payments we have made over the past 2 years.
I have emailed CCCS to see if they can find out why as we don't want to challenge them ourselves.
At this rate, we will never pay off the debt. May as well be bankrupt.0 -
Hi Janey
Really sorry to hear of the added charges, I am still getting charged interest and late payment charges from BOS CC and I know how frustrating it is as I now owe them more.
However all other creditors are coming down,so in all in all things working out.
Hope cccs can sort something out for you0
