Vinegar as a fabric softener?

I have been using vinegar for a good while since finding it on her. A bottle lasts me ages. I get the 2 for £1 from Farmfoods. I just add a few glugs to the dispenser. I cut down with the wash powder and add in some soda crystals as well 55p for a bag. Some one posted that they do the same job as the expensive Calgon.
I sometimes add Tea Tree Oil to it as well, just a few drops to give it a nice clean smell when it comes out.
My husband and son were always prone to out breaks for dry itchy skin. Since the vinegar no more!0 -
Just done two loads of washing and used the white vinegar as a fabric softener, no smell and the washing was soft. I am amazed. I will try it on towels next, that will be the real test for me for softness, although I don't like them too soft, I think if they are a little rough they dry you better.0

There are fantastic books on vinegar with many useful hints in your local library0

Morning All,
Apologies for asking a question which I know has been asked before, I just can't find the thread. I wondered what was the best was to use white vinegar as a fabric conditioner? Do I need to dilute with water and add essential oils, for example? I already use the soap+water+washing crystals instead of washing powder (works great) but wanted to but out the conditioner too!
Any help much appreciated

Around 1-2tbsps or 1/2 to 1 capful (of your previous conditioner bottle) per wash.
In my previous washer the conditioner compartment was small so I could only use the concentrated version anyway as it "spilt over" and leaked away before the washer began otherwise!! TBH I haven't tried it yet in my new machine.

We use 2 capfuls (the screw cap from the vinegar bottle) per wash in a 7kg machine.
No smell, no residue and clothes cleaner than ever. Would never go back to the blue gunge.0 -
