As long as the new provider accepts transfers in, you can transfer ISA’s at any time (you don’t need to wait until the new tax year). You can then add to it (or open another one if preferred) in the new tax year (up to £3,600 from the new tax year). Make sure there aren't any penalties for withdrawing from your existing provider.

Anyone know if Bradford & Bingley pay interest on ISA transfers in from date of cheque? Natwest say they sent my transfer cheque 11 days ago and won't stop it and resend until 30 days is up!

Just out of interest what ISA product have Bradford and Bingley got that is worth transferring into.

Bradford And Bingley dont appear to say when they start paying interest on ISA transfer ins.

For the benefit of anybody that has transferred an ISA to Halifax PLC.

"You won't lose any interest for the period your money is in transit because the funds are shown as credited to your account from the day after they left your existing provider "
  • Good evening All,

Just to check with those that know - is Alliance and Leicester also close to trouble? I explained about the good rates they were offering to family and they said it was too good to be true and because they were desparate for cash to offset other troubles (a la NR)....

Rumour/ Scandel/ or forgettable tittle tattle?

    Thank you

Abbey offering similiar rates on similar products, does that mean that Abbey are in trouble as well. nono.gifnono.gifnono.gif

    e.g December 2007 Abbey 1 year fix 7% Jan 2008 A+L 1 year fix 7%

    Abbey E-Saver 6.5% with strings A+L E-Saver 6.5% with strings

    Abbey ISA 6.25% ( from 3rd March) A+L ISA 6.25%

Another difference re NR, NR were obsessed with keeping its independence, I dont believe another small financial PLC would be so silly. nono.gif

Its fair to say that a lot of financial institutions have been going to a lot of trouble and a lot of expense to gain funding which has been good news for savers. clap.gif
  • I'm am trying to 'transfer' to A&L's Cash ISA, but it says I need to open a new Cash ISA first, when I try to open a new ISA it says I can only open one if I haven't opened an ISA this Tax year.

I have opened one this year, but i'm not transferring that one, if that makes any difference.

(I've tried calling all the phone numbers, but none seem to be working and I can't find an email address either.)

Are there any transfer out fees for A&L?
  • I applied to Icesave (ISA rate 6.1%) to transfer my Abbey ISA. Abbey phoned me (on 23/2/08) to say that they had increased their ISa rate to 6.25% from 12 noon on 22/2/08, so did I want to cancel the transfer? Obviously I said Yes. But the Abbey rate is not showing on the MoneySavingExpert article on best ISA rates. Is it a special offer to keep my ISA?

I think it's because it's not available until next week. I can't remember the exact date, think it's something like 1st of 3rd of March. It was appearing on the moneyfacts website, but it's disappeared at the moment, don't know why.
