My question is: How do I find an "ISA by Transfer" provider?
Hi washbourne, read through this post - scroll down to find variable & fixed-rate Cash ISAs which accept inward transfers.
  • Transferred my mini-cash ISA from Nationwide to A & L to chase the higher interest rate after reading Martins Newsletter. This application went in on April 22nd, I filled in all the necessary forms together with an A & L financial adviser. Nationwide informed me on May 9th that the ISA had been sent to A & L & it appears to got lost in the ether. It is now June 12th & my money is still missing in transit! Upon enquiry it appears that a form was incorrectly filled in at Head Office of A & L which HM Revenue duly rejected. Was it worth the hassle? Answer most definitely not!

To balance your experience, I've made many Cash ISA transfers in the past 8/9 years (or however long ISAs have been going), without any problem whatsoever and it has most definitely been worth it - however, this year LTSB have 'lost' a reasonably large transfer of mine since March and Nationwide have still not opened a friend's transferred ISA account since 4th April.

I transfered out of Barclays (account closed 3 June), and into IceSave (credited 5 June).
Thank you for reading this message.

    Hi

I'm new to this forum and haven't read all the posts.

just wondering if other people have absolutely crap experience with A&L.
we have opened an ISA each with them to transfer previous year's isas.
final statements from previous isas shows they were closed about 3 weeks ago and the money still hasn't appeared in our accounts.

Can't get through on customer services - I waited about 40 minutes on an 0844 number and all they would say was they have 30 days according to HMRC rules.

Has the same thing happened to any one else? any advice as to where to go?

I will probably transfer it all out to another ISA ASAP.

    Welcome to the forum.

Check www.saynoto0870.com for alternatives to 0845 number, there are plenty of 0800 and 0500 (free) numbers.
Thank you for reading this message.
  • For A+L I used 0800 056 6066 to get through to them and it worked fine. They are currently processing transfers that the money was received before May 12.

I've had several FRISAs with them over the years, currently one from last October at 6.5%, and have always found their customer service to be excellent.

The only negative which I have found is the 14-day window of opportunity for transfer upon maturity. After 14 days, their standard Cash ISA Ts & Cs apply, which require 3 months notice for withdrawals/transfers without incurring an exit fee.

    Hi Baldur

I downloaded the application form and was just about to fill it out before reading this. I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but when is maturity? Is it a year to the day after you transferred your ISA and the account was credited, the start of the next tax year or 31st August when Julian Hodge credit interest to the account? tia

From memory, as my current one doesn't mature until October, it's either the anniversary date or possibly the day before. They send a letter several weeks before maturity asking for your instructions as to what you wish to do with the maturing funds, e.g. open a new FRISA, withdraw or transfer to a different provider, etc.
