If by "new ISA" you mean the 1.95% AER product, then yes.

Sorry if I sound daft but when I move my Halifax Isa to a fixed one do the t and c's mean you cannot add any more funds after the initial amount. I do not have the full years amount just yet.

Is it this year or a previous years Halifax ISA you want to transfer ?

Are you wanting to transfer to a Halifax ISA Saver Fixed, or transfer out to another provider.

I currently have an Isa with Halifax which I want to transfer which has about 10k in. But in subsequent months I will still be able to save so am I right in saying I could open another one for this. I did put some money in my current one yesterday, this one drops from 3% next week to 0.25%. It was only a few hundred so hopefully will be able to put the remainder of this years allowance in the new one. It is the Halifax fixed I want to move to.
    Thanks for your help:)

By putting some money in yesterday you have started an isa for this year (2013-2014) so you cannot open another unless you transfer all of this year's (2013-2014) contributions. I would open the best paying ISA which allows transfers in and move your money. Halifax, Barclays etc are paying awful interest rates. Get the best rate you can get. Remember to get the bank/building society you open the new isa with to make the transfer.

Halifax Fixed ISA conditions state that All deposits must be completed within 60 days of account opening.

So by putting some money in yesterday I have spoilt it for the rest of the year if I chose the fixed one. Thought isas were simple but not so. Will have to think again.

    Lily1,
You can ask just to transfer the "previous years" part of the Cash ISA into the Halifax fixed rate account (i.e. dont transfer the part you added yesterday). This would mean you can carry on adding to the ISA you have for the rest of this year.

Don't transfer it all, or you will lock yourself out of the rest of your allowance for this year since the Halifax Fixed rate accounts don't allow additional deposits once opened.
