I opened up a Barclays Golden Cash ISA 2 years ago and have just uner £7.5K in there. I have used my allowance for 2009/10

I would like to transfer this to another higher earning account as I think the rate falls after this year ends. Could anyone suggest where I could do this to? Would it be possible to open the new Golden ISA account with Barclays - stick the 7.5K in there and also the 3K for 2010/11 and be earning the high rate of interest?

You can't transfer into Barclays Golden ISA, so if you want to transfer it elsewhere, have a look HERE to see what's available to you.

Just to mention, as from 6 April 2010 the maximum limit on a Cash ISA has been increased to £5,100 (over 50's have been able to do this since last October).

I have a First Direct cash ISA to transfer (about £7000). I am over 50. Do I have to look for a deal before tomorrow or could I wait until next week as am going away on friday?
I dithered as wasn't sure if I should keep it in a cash ISA or nuke it and put it in an account against my offset mortgage. I am not a taxpayer although may be in a few years time if my circumstances change.
What would be my best deal please? I considered the Clydesdale 1 year fixed ISA but have had such stressful dealings with that bank that I moved to First Direct.
Instant access would be preferable too. I am in London so can't get in branch to regional building societies. thanks for any help

In a new financial year can I transfer a cash ISA to a new provider in addition to that years allowance in my case £5,100, also is there a maximum amount I can invest in ISA's in total. I currently have ISA's with different providers.

I'm still very confused as to my best option. I don't think i have time to transfer my money before 5 April anyhow but if I choose a cash ISA after 6 April (no new money: just transfer what's there already) do I have to 'reactivate' it? I presume I'm not allowed to transfer to another First Direct product for some reason?

You don't have to "reactivate" anything to transfer old year subscriptions. You just transfer them.

You cannot transfer from one FD product to another if they don't choose to allow it!

Is this the e-ISA account opened on or before 14 May 2009?

    Hello,

It was a normal cash isa my friend, it was opened before May though.

As far as I am aware no mention has been made in MSE articles re Cash ISAs of the Kent & Reliance BS. They seem to offer a good range of fixed rate ISAs and will take transfers. Current rates range from 3.25% to December 2011 and 4.00% to September 2014. No bonus rates included so you know exactly where you stand until maturity. Worth looking at in my view if you do not require instant access. Sorry not allowed as new user to include Kent's hyperlink.

It's mentioned on Kazza242's "Cash ISAs - best currently available" list.

I sent the tranfer application off last Monday, 22nd March. As it was signed and dated 20th March, I am hoping, given your information, that they received it before yesterday and will honour the application date.

Thanks for your advice and the 'phone number, which I called. I spoke with someone in the Northampton office who informed me that transfers are dealt with by head office and he gave me a number for head office. I contacted them and informed them of the situation an they told me that the application would be honoured as long as it with signed and dated before the 25th March.
I hope this brings good news to anyone else in the same position as myself with the Nationwide transfer.

Update - I have just received written confirmation from Nationwide that they have received my documents and that they are beginning the transfer process.
If anyone else is in the same position as I was then I hope you too have received good news.
