hmmm this is a thread that's going to stir the pot somewhat!
Now the thing that gets me is the people that spout they have a right to this and a right to that.
Okay probably going to cop some flak for this... but exactly why do they have these rights? I was brought up that you have a right to what you earn, no more, no less.
So why do all these people think they have a right to a certain houses in certain areas/ amounts of money for nothing etc?
Sorry but no. While I accept there are some people that need genuine help, this should always be a time fixed amount of help then you should work*, if you cannot work after this period then it should be down to your family/ friends/ people who choose to, to support you. It's not society's job on the whole.
Okay guys fire away! However these are my views and I will listen to everyone else's with an open mind to!
* Work could be anything that actively contributes to society, I don't care if your job is to sit in a park & report every criminal act from litter dropping to mugging. The point is you would still be a productive member of society.saving, saving, saving!0 -
Surely it should be a simple question of health, either ones own or that of the individual(s) one cares for.0

About bloody time IMO.
Those who can work but refuse to should be thrown out on the street.
Why the hell should the taxpayer support their lives of leisure?0 -
Dont councils have to re-house people if their "Homeless"?, so i they throw them out, they will then have to re-home them anyway?0

I live in housing association (ex council) housing and I do work and pay my rent!!! not everyone in council housing is on benefits as some of you seem to assume. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

I feel that they suggest a wild plan like that - Then know everyone will be up in arms about it, shouting and screaming and then the real plans turn up stating that it won't be so bad and people walk away thinking they have done a good job persuading the government, only to find out it was a ruse to get the 2nd plan in anyway

They should be FORCED to move every three months, so they can't get too comfortable. Some of these scroungers live in the same place for years without lifting a finger to find a job !!!Founder member MSE Jet Airways Mile High Club

People appear to be angry because 'all' council tenants are the same and they don't 'deserve' cheaper housing. Think about it? Perhaps its the rest of housing that's too expensive? Perhaps it's not council tenants that are the problem but people who buy to let for profit, or own 2 or 3 homes pushing out the locals, or developers artificially inflating prices so those at the bottom are squeezed out.
Stop pandering to the 'divide and rule' tactics of the authorities and really think about why we're all in this situation, who benefits and who really is getting a raw deal.
Rant over!
Thats the same way as i look at it, it is divide and rule and people just don't see it. It should be cheaper rents for all, not people moaning and hating the person with the cheaper rent, why not get upset that you are not getting a fair deal too and blame the people in charge instead of those who are lucky enough for whatever reason to live in cheaper housing.
At the end of the day the person in cheaper housing does not make your housing more expensive. In Progress!!!0
