I often freeze takeaways. If we are paying a delivery charge I always order extra for quick food for DH when on call. But I know the takeaway and I know its fresh.GC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500

Hi guys
I 've got a frozen turkey crown that has been lurking in the bottom of my freezer since April. Will it still be edible and safe to eat (once it's been defrosted and cooked lol)?

Yeah should be fine. I eat most things out of the freezer and I never even consider how long they've been there!!Aiming to be Debt free by October 20130

Hi Maryland Cookie
It should be absolutely fine. Four months is nothing compared to the length of time I've kept some food in the freezer.
Food cannot go off in a properly working freezer. The quality can deteriorate if it is not well wrapped and it gets freezer burn but that won't harm you, it just might not taste quite as good.
I'll add this thread to the quick questions on freezing thread later as your query may help others.

Thanks guys, looking forward for this for tea tomorrow. It was a "Gift" from MIL - should have been £11.00 from Tesco at Easter, but was reduced to a couple of quid, she got loads! x0

There is absolutely nothing wrong with freezing cooked food, whether left-over take-aways or not, regardless of whether or not the ingredients of said food have previously been frozen. If you feel my comments are helpful then I'd love it if you 'Thanked' me!0

The only take away that I freeze is when I get chicken from our local version of kfc, I buy the family meal size and freeze half of it.
I know that the chicken is cooked fresh from them and it makes a fairly cheap take away even cheaper by feeding the 5 of us for another 3 meals:T
