I use silicone muffin cases for freezing individual portions. Works well.

I had some defrosted hummous today with my lunch! :D It freezes perfect, i don't change the recipe or anything. I freeze in ice cubes or small tubs.

Our hummous thread may also be of interest

I beat and froze some whoopsied eggs in ice cube trays so I can use them for baking. How the heck do I get the cubes out of the tray? I usually tip stuff ( like whizzed up ginger etc) into a bag so I can use the tray again, but these eggs are very firmly stuck. I don't want to leave them til they are all defrosted as that would defeat the purpose, also don't want to run the back under a hot tap. I have tried standing it ( or rather, floating it) in water to see if they would loosen, but no go.

Umm have you tried twisting the tray, that usually pops them out for me :)

Yep. It's not the most flexible tray tbh. Think I might just get myself a silicon one next time im in poundland. I just can't shift these easily!

I made a chorizo and tomato pasta sauce type thing last night which we prob wont eat today anyone know if 1) itd be safe to eat tomorrow (BBE date on chorizo is tomorrow) or 2) safe to freeze?
I also have a bit left (bought from tesco deli) but unsure if it is freezable? (sounds bad that I dont know this (!) but assume it is smoked meat rather than "raw"?) if not I shall palm it off to some of the visitors we have for lunch today!!

    thanks in advance :D

    Hello,

Can i freeze homemade cakes/rockbuns etc in tins? I've got a load of old biscuit tins (you know the kind, christmas selection biscuits or roses tins) that I use to keep baked goods in.

Are they freezer safe? I don't have any tupperware large enough and have a chest freezer so don't really want to put them in bags.

    Thanks,

    Cait x

P.S. Might it make the tin rust?

Shouldn't be any problem if you're taking a few cakes or buns out as you need them, but remember that once the tin has been removed from the freezer any ice cystals on it will melt and cause condensation inside and outside the tin. This could cause mould to form and damage your cakes if they're left in the tin in a warm room. Once the tin is empty, make sure it's dried thoroughly inside and out to prevent any rust forming on it.

Yes, you can freeze chorizo. We cut it into chunks and keep several sections of it, each enough for a meal, in a bag in the freezer. It keeps quite well because of its high oil content.
