Sunday before last I cooked a pork shoulder joint (after having been defrosted). The next day some of it got turned into chinese. Three days after that the remenants of that chinese got reheated in the microwave and eaten.

I'd say it will be fine as long as it's been properly stored and you make sure it is thouroughly reheated. I would certainly eat it, but this would be its last chance. I'd be relucantant to serve it to guests though.

It's supposed to be that you only reheat it once - but I've reheated stuff more than once (including chicken and pork) and I've never had a problem, and I have a relatively sensitive stomach.

Lunch for me today will be curry reheated for the second time.

I do make sure it's very hot tho.

<snip> However - I'd say mince is relatively low risk <snip>

Minced meat has a large surface area, which makes it a high risk.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

I would have eaten it before Dec 12th last year - when I was struck down with Campylobacter food poisoning. now, NO! not reheated twice from frozen.
and when I say 'struck down' - it was really bad! you don't want to know the details.

Back in the old days a crockpot of stew would sit on the stove all week with new bits added to it daily. As long as it's heated to a sufficiently high temp then perfectly safe.

I'm with you on this, Campy got me and ruled out all of September last year.

I am very careful with food, it's just not worth the risk
  • What is a freezer. BoP's chilli matures on the stove in the pan. It does not get pass day two!
  • If it was just me eating it I would risk it but not give it to anyone else. I would heat it in a pan rather than the microwave to make sure it was hot all the way through.
I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:
