Out of interest, when did you open the Lloyds account and when did the transfer forms get sent to Egg? I opened mine in the middle of March and sent back the transfer forms but the money is still in my Egg account.

If that was directed to me, I've had a lloyds account for about 15 years, I opened the ISA mid march, and I errored because I went in branch and didn't look at the address for egg savings, which differs from the main egg address, I phoned them when I got back on the saturday but they were closed so the people on the phone said they would fax the chnage of address the forms needed to be sent to, I assumed this was correct as it only took about 2 weeks for egg to close the account.

Yes you can drip feed into the the account via BACS/SO's but you only have until 31/05/2008 to do it. The account then closes to new deposits so get your £3600 in for this year by that date.
I wasn't too sure about this info so I queried it (3 times) and each time was given the same information.

I have a fixed term ISA with another provider due to mature in August 2008. I asked if I could then transfer that money into this lloyds ISA - I was told absolutely no question - I queried it again as it seems strange to be able to keep topping up a fixed rate account, but the manager also confirmed this to be the case.

I suppose I will know for certain in August!!

I posted this earlier, which may help......

I rang this number 0800 015 0060 and spoke to a guy, seemed very helpful and told me there is no problem with transferring in at any time after the account is opened.

This number also had links to enquire about ISA transfers if over 30 days which may be helpful.

Also this number gives a recorded message telling you that you will not loose any interest in the transfer process as interest will be paid from the date on the cheque of your existing provider.

I was told they don't bother with cheques and it's all wired, so no idea why even mine has taken 10days thusfar, but on a side not, while they say you don't lose the interest on the money coming from another ISA, how's the impact on the actual interest you get, because you need 9k+ for the higher rate etc.. this ISA lark is pure madness ;)

When I rang this number earlier,( as mentioned in my post #594), there was no recorded message saying this, just "welcome to Lloyds TSB etc", then straight to a human.

The transfer cannot be dictated by Lloyds, it is the transferring bank that decides how the transfer will take place, and in my case,Northern Rock, they tell me it will be by cheque!

You should have got the welcome, then a choice of press 1 to open an ISA and press 2 for all other enquiries, on pressing 2 you get the recorded message....well I did before and just tried it again now, still the same

On recollection I pressed 1, as I was wanting to open a new isa, straight to a human, I was waiting for the message,as in your post, and was very surprised when I did not get it and was straight to the human!

I have just tried it again and press 2, and you are correct about the message, maybe we should record that message, as some on here are saying that interest will only start after money has been credited and also to stop Lloyds backtracking!

I haven't read all the thread so I don't know why people are saying that - but along with others I did contribute earlier to say ...
Once your transfer is credited LTSB will write to you to let you know that they will pay you £X interest based on Y number of days from the date of the previous providers cheque to the date they credited the account. They will pay this at the time interest is added to the account, after 12 months.

My first transfer is in and the letter I received from Lloyds made no mention of back dating the interest.
