    Question:

Once the account has been opened, and everything transferred in, are you able to put more money into the account - say £300 every month?
(Obvously as long as you haven't used up the £3,600 available for the 08/09 tax year!)

The reason I ask is because I went to a branch to get some info, and to cut a long story short, he told me that once it was opened, you couldn't add to it.

I asked for that in writing, but all he could give me was the leaflet with the interest rates on it. Soooo helpful!

Yes, you can pay into it in the next tax year up to your allowance.

This year's £3,600 added this morning (transferred into current account last week from elsewhere in preparation for this), though showing 7 April on the on-line statement.

Now a large balance of amaxuimum £3,000 each year and £3,600 this year and the £9,000 matured TESSA proceeds.

Will earn a lot of interest this year at Lloyds' generous 6.5% rate.

Thanks Mr Daniels. Now that's magic!

Did you use Internet Banking to transfer into your fixed rate ISA? I've tried to transfer £3600 from current account to the isa this morning but an error message appears every time.

    Me too...

It appears that the errors are to do with account being 'fallow'...while the account waits for the transfer in...I contacted the number the error message gave this morning but had to ring another number to see if they could transfer it...they couldn't do it either so I have to ring their ISA dept tommorrow on 0845 300 0077

    Hope its resolved tommorrow!
I would normally have a cup of tea

Yes I did use Internet Banking. My account got the YBS transfer on 1 April, maybe that's why it allowed my annual allowance today (even though it shows as a credit with tomorrow's date).

It would appear you can only transfer in if you have a Lloyds current account, I don't and have just looked as I want to top up for next tax year tomorrow and there doesn't seem to be any facility to do this :(

So looks like either post a cheque or visit my branch to pay in a cheque I guess, this has been one of the most difficult ISA accounts I have ever had to open, transfer in and deposit new money into, I wonder what it will be like in a year when we all want to transfer out.
