  • Thanks Graham,Trouble is Staywarm havent sent me any annual bills since i have been with them and trying to find comparison with other suppliers is hard. All I can put in is my total cost and a lot seem to be cheaper than staywarm.I dont even have readings from when I started with Staywarm
  • chas 1937, read my posts on this thread. Nos. 11, 22, 57 & 59.
My advice is to wait untill you turn your heating off then get out quick and take Scottish Powers capped price ubtill Oct 2007.
  • Hi Djohn just read your posts and they have got me thinking.Did you read my thread 67 on here if not here is it copied
Hi All,My problem has been with Scottish Power although I have been with Staywarm since sept 2001.I got a call from them on wednesday to say that there had been an erroneous transfer and that Staywarm would need too send all my payments back to me.Then they said Staywarm would transfer me back too Scottish Power when they would bill me from 2001 at Scottish power prices. After that they would then transfer me back too Staywarm. As you can imagine they have as much chance of doing that as me winning lottery.I,ve had problems with Scottish Power in sept this year and energy watch got that sorted and too wich i have letter from their senior customer relations manager stating that all had been sorted and I,d hear no more from them.As I,ve stil had no word from either of the companies I just have to wait and see what great idea they come up with.I will keep site posted as to outcome of this affair, thanks.

It won't be before you're a high user your price has gone up. Staywarm prices overall have been increasing alongside (and slightly quicker) than others due to general energy price rises. Plus as Powergen took it over, it was less keen on the system so didnt pump as much cash in it as previously.

I've been a staywarm user for over 3 years and have decided to have a look at some other suppliers. I am currently paying £75 a month in an all electric house, which I felt was excessive for an age concern scheme.
After using your search engine I lighted on the British Gas site. they estimated my monthly bill at £50, and I could hardly believe my eyes, so I rang them and spoke to a rep. I told him my previous usage (11777 ) units (65% night rate) and he confirmed a figure £588 per year. On top of this I was offered a fixed price until 2010 and a further £30 off if I ran a paper free internet maintained account. There may be a catch but till I find it I'll hang on to my ££7 per week saving.
Thanks for a great site Martin I may soon become rich.

Been looking at the pdf file with staywarm prices and for my self here in Glasgow its says £14.80 per week although for same situation in England and Wales its £11.I,m in 2 bedroom,mid-terrace house with all double glazing and cavity wall insulation plus i,m only here myself so use energy saving bulbs too.Dont see why there should be 34.5% increase as its not that different here from Wales and North of England.
Been having bit of bother since November with what they call an erroneous transfer so they changed me back too Scottish Powewr from Jan2003 and sent me bill from then. They have now changed me back too Staywarm as from 18th January and still waiting to hear from Staywarm.
I did do check from 6th dec 05 too 6th jan 06 using Scottish Power prices and I,d used £ 80 so will be thinking very seriously about going back too Staywarm as I reckon that period would be the largest amount of usage in whole year.Any comments on this please

I have been with Staywarm for one year now, have been paying £44.30 per month.

They have just increased to £47.43 per month, an increase of £3.13 or 6.6%.

Reading some of your increases that seems pretty good to me, but I'm still wondering if maybe I could get it cheaper elsewhere.

I don't waste I turn heating on and offf as I need it and don't cook as much as I used to.

The hard part is finding comparisons when you have no figures of consumption from Staywarm.

It is, indeed, difficult to compare STAYWARM against other electricity/gas providers. Of course, you could take your own meter readings and calculate from there.

One thing is certain, however, this is the wrong time of year to abandon STAYWARM. Due to the method of charging you are getting very cheap heating in the winter months. If you decided that, over a year, another provider is cheaper then change during the spring.

I joined STAYWARM in 2000 when my payments were just £21.67/month. My payments are now £44.80/month!

I tried to get quotes using just the size of house details which didn't reaaly match mine as it gave medium and mine is small, but staywarm was still cheaper.

I am wondering how I got such a low percentage increase compared with some people on here who've had higher. How do they calculate these increases, area? consumption? it's confusing to say the least.
