Hi S30jok could you pm me with details regarding costs of postage thanksThe average woman would rather have beauty than brains,
because the average man can see better than he can think.
Many people's view of the world is down to their experience, perception and what they have been conditioned to,this isnt any old MSE reply this is a important and experienced MSE reply :rotfl:0 -
I never had spots as a teenager but since I've been in my 30's I get PMT outbreaks plus reactions to unsuitable products. I'm now gonna try some products from REN and Organic Pharmacy. Yes they are expensive, but as they are natural they shoudn't cause anything like this. You only get 1 skin so it's best to look after it and I was considering using natural products anyway as quite a lot of ingredients in mainstream producta are very bad, e.g the same stuff they make anti-freeze from!
I sort of agree with you and I sort of don't! Firstly, you need to bear in mind that a lot of 'natural' products can cause skin reactions - you wouldn't put chillis on your skin, and they're pretty natural, and many aromatherapy oils (on which 'natural' are based) are just as reactive. Secondly, a lot of the products we don't consider 'natural', ie, those which come from petrochemicals are actually completely 'natural' as they come from 'the earth' as they are carbon derivatives, eg, mineral oil, etc. Thirdly, I belive, the active product in the Aldi products are retinol related. On the downside, these products can cause reactions. On the upside they are the only products that have any remotely proven action on ageing in the skin - although the active levels are debatable. Again, on the upside, they are related to Vitamin A which is pretty natural - although reactive!
In summary, if it is going to have any effect on ageing a cream has GOT to create a reaction in the skin and clearly on those with sensitivity this is not good. If you have highly sensitive skin you might as well forget an anti-ageing cream because if it works it is going to create a reaction - if it doesn't it's a dud!
If you don't want that reaction you are left with what most anti-aging cream claims are based on - SPF, ie the sunscreen of your choice. But few of these are 'natural' and may cause a reaction in sensitive skin. You're then left with basic lubrication of the skin and for this you can pay a lot or a little for the same effect!
Ren products are pretty gorgeous but you are paying for exclusivity in marketing and packaging and scent - and there are oils in the products which could still set off a reactive skin whatever they say. And it is a lot of money for a reaction (at least buy it through QVC so you can get your money back if it doesn't work!)
If you are really reactive, therefore, you're best bet is probably something like shea butter or olive oil and you can spend the money you save on something more interesting!0 -
Yes that all makes sense, thanks for the helpful advice. I understand that natural ingredients can cause as much of a reaction as their synthetic counterparts, but at least the side effects are only temporary and don't do any long-term damage apart from very rare cases such as someone having a severe peanut allergy...
I went with an Organic Pharmacy cleanser and a Ren mask, moisturiser plus serum. Luckily none of them caused any outbreaks but I wasn't too impressed with the moisturiser's performance so I returned it to the website and received a full refund. Even though it had been used a couple of times the staff were most helpful, so excellent service there (Beauty Expert).
Not exactly moneysaving in terms of being cheaply priced, but I used a discount code and got Quidco cashback too. I could have bought it cheaper from Ebay but with no refund option that would be a bit of a gamble. As this country is so extortionate in it's pricing of goods, I felt the price was reasonable for the quality of ingredients and packaging. For me it's worth it for the peace of mind because since I've been looking more into skincare ingredients it has worried me somewhat. I have felt for some time that the ingredients in many toiletries may contribute towards serious illnesses as they can be toxic. A super-cheap face cream may seem like an excellent bargain short term, but if it's detrimental to one's health then long term it doesn't appear so appealing. I am already researching natural ingredients such as the ones you suggested, with a view to making my own products. They seem to be very cost-effective and much safer/healthier in the long term. I really would prefer to pay £1.69 for a face cream than £20+ as obviously I'm on here to save money like everyone else, but not if it's going to ruin my skin and possibly my health a few years down the line. I look forward to the time when we might be able to buy a product at Siana prices but with none of the potential nasties it contains. I'll probably be waiting a long time! x0 -
For all of you who have spare tubs of the Aldi siana cream, get it on ebay and mention you will post to usa, i just sold a few tubs all at £30 a tub each plus postage because the Aldi's in america wont stock it.
but all the american ladies have read about it online and want it!
They must be mad then as some are selling them for less than £5 and they are offering overseas postage.

I have been using both the Sianna day and night cream for about 8 weeks continually. Sadly, lines are still there but skin feels very soft, can you imagine how shocked I was last week at the underground station when I enquired whether it would be cheaper to buy two singles or a one day travel card. The young man behind the counter very nicely informed me that if I had a Freedom Pass and travel after 9.30 it would be free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now I am torn between the Sianna and my old favorite, Oil of Olay and I am only 56 to boot! I reckon the lights at East Finchley station must be real bad.SallyD0

Lucky you! There's lots of helpful info on the net about the use of coconut oil, but in particular many helpful posts regarding using it as a hair treatment on this site: www.makeupalley.com. It's predominantly American members discussing American products, although lots of them are available here too and there's lots of helpful info to be found.0 -
nico26 I just got back from 4 months in India .Dont use Coconut oil on your hair it does nothing for it.Coconut oil on face i wouldnt use either as all the dust over there it will all stick to your face.
This year i took Aussie conditioner for coloured hair and that worked excellent, but i then put on Pantene leave on hair moisturizer and i had no frizzy dry hair.0
