i am sure that everyone will agree that when we joined this forum we accepted its T&Cs, so if we have been asked not to post any more codes then we should abide by this. There are a lot of people ( I am not one ) who have been using this site quite respectfully for a long time, and it is just of late where things have got a bit out of hand and people have been abusing them.

I for one used some the codes, they were invaluable. I did not abuse them. I have read threads where people used the codes to get as much as they can for as little as they can. I'm not going to criticise these people, because if someone offeres you £10/£15 off your shopping for nothing, they why should you turn it down. If people didn't post the codes in the first place, then people could not abuse them, so they are as much to blame as anyone.

I have codes which Mr T sent me which I have not posted. I could easily set up 2/3/4 accounts in different names and abuse them, but why? I use the codes so I get, what I see, a fairer deal on my shopping. There is no needs for me to go any buy 120 bottles of wine so that I can argue to CS on the phone for days on end about the 10,000 points that have not turned up on my balance. This is greed.

The forum is a community - look at some of the othere posts, people are there hepling each other and offering advice and yes, sometime, posting discount codes.

I'm sure if MSE didn't remove the thread then they would have probably been told to by Mr T's lawyers.

    Hi lamaar75.
I agree with the vast majority of what you say - there is far too much greed around on MSE & other similar sites at the moment.

Just to re-iterate, though, MSE Martin (THE TOP DOG) said in a recent post that the only codes that should be posted are ones that are open to all. As long as we stick to this, and make sure that we give full details of eligability, where code was found etc then we should hopefully all be better off without feeling the need to report each other.

Perhaps those Mods who spend their days trawling this site removing posts could remove some of the 355 pages, dating back almost 2 years, of stuff that is long-since out of date. Maybe also, they could "trim" this thread, which dates back to codes valid until Jun 05. It would make it a lot easier then for us to find what we are looking for whilst it is still relevant.
  • Jesus talk about tunnel vision you reference a message from Martin posted before all this started (not recent btw) and use it to justify what the Abuse team, the MSE official team and MSE volunteers tell you not to do.

These guys represent Martin, WOW everyone that works for MSE must be out of step except the newbie bb999.

As I understand it all the Mods are volunteers, and are doing there best. The Tesco code issue was difficult as no one was in a position to say what's going on. Martin has clarified now what codes can be posted.

The post was removed after suspected abuse was reported. Mods don't 'trawl through' all postings and all have the sites interest at heart even if they do occasionally get it wrong.

Hi goforgold, you seem to have the wrong impression:
The quote that I used from Martin was actually made TODAY, and is not some old obscure quote used to justify myself.

some very interesting posts here at the moment - i have used several of the tesco codes posted on here in tha last few months, and never abused them - as discussed, in simple terms, the codes allowed for free delivery and additional discount - and much appreciated, it will be a shame if they disappear altogether, and I am certain Tesco will suffer a significant decline in top-line sales as a consequence - as I, like a large number of forum visitors would only order from tesco online if the incentive of a 'code' is available.

My view for what it's worth is that it was good while it lasted, and it will be a great shame if it is withdrawn beacuse some people abused it by registering different e-mail addresses.

I do hope that ultimately more Tesco codes become available, but that there is a control in place to stop the abuse that has taken place, thus allowing forum viewers like myself to take advantage of the benefit without abusing it!!!

It has never been posted on this site by an official that we can't post Tesco codes that are for general use.

Some thought the removal of the codes thread 'implied' codes could not be posted and many were confused.

Martin has said today on the 'Gentle PLEA to use Tesco codes sensibly' thread that it's OK to post codes on this site that rae open to all for use provided the source can be quoted.

Thanks for the information. I'm glad the codes aren't going to disappear altogether.
No reliance should be placed on the above.
