ours is spag bol, followed in second place by bacon and brocolli in creamy sauce (usually a bit of philly and cooking water).
other faves include pasta with pesto, and also with roasted tomatoes and parmesan.Trying to be good, not always succeeding. :A:beer:0 -
Lasagne is my fave, don't care about anyone else :rotfl:We do sometimes vary the usual dishes of spag bol, lasange etc by using chicken, quorn, veg etc.One day I might be more organised...........

You've got two different flavours in the tortellini already, so, personally, I'd go for the simple tomato sauce above, as it goes with both.
Lightly fry off 2 medium onions and 2 cloves of garlic in 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Add a 400g tin of chopped tomatoes and a teaspoon of dried mixed herbs. Put the pasta on to boil now. Reduce the sauce down a bit. Now, drain the pasta, add it to the sauce and gently toss them together. This is because an Italian would always "bring the pasta to the sauce", not just plonk a dollop of sauce on top of the pasta.
According to legend, tortellini is supposed to be the shape of Venus' navel. A later version of the legend says its Lucrezia Borgia's navel. Given her family’s reputation for poisoning people, I'd stick with Venus.
If it would help, I have all the ingredients and would be more than willing to pop over with them, along with a bottle of Valpolicella. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
PMSL, thanks for the naval information! You've put me right off! I think I will do a big tomato pasta sauce - I can freeze most of it as there isn't any in the freezer at the mo!

if you like pasta, i have discovered a really yummy recipe. clove of garlic, handful of spinach and a tin of chopped toms with taglietele (sp). i also add a bit of fresh basil too, and if you cant do without meat, just add a bit of mince.
