This is hubby's favourite - I make it once in a blue moon as it's not very healthy!!
Basically, it's mushrooms and chorizo in a sauce of cream, oregano, basil and a little smidge of olive oil, with a little finely grated parmesan melted in just before serving to give it a little cheesy taste. Served with pasta twists and garlic bread - yum yum yum!0 -

Creme Fraiche
"Crème fraîche and sour cream are both manufactured cream products. Crème fraîche is a slightly tangy, slightly nutty, thickened cream. Before the age of pasteurization crème fraîche made itself as the bacteria present in the cream fermented and thickened it naturally."
Our absolute favourite is mac and cheese.
I also love tuna pasta with cream, tinned tuna, onions, mushroom and parmesan"A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain." Mark Twain0 -

Tuna pasta bake!!
cook pasta.. add white or cheese sauce.. add whatever veggies you are feeling like.. we add peas, mushrooms, peppers and grated swede (sneakily!!) whatever we feel like or have in... add a tin of tuna slop in a casserole dish.. top with breadcrumbs and grated cheese and chuck in the oven for 10-15 mins until cheese melts and crumbs are crispy
We have it with salad.. or with crusty warm bread or potato whatevers.. (waffles fritters etc.. whatever!)LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

You can mix cooked pasta with a tin of chicken or mushroom soup(condensed soups are best ,but you can use an ordinary tin) very cheap and easy.
Also put a chicken leg in a large saucepan of salted water.
Add can chopped tomatoes and cook until chicken falls off bones. Remove from pan and take chicken off bones and put back into saucepan.
Add pieces of broken spaghetti or small pasta shapes. When pasta cooked add a large squirt of tomato puree to thicken.Cook for a few mins.
Remove from heat.Add a little cold water to stop pasta going slimey then drain so that there is just a little liquid left.Add 1tbs olive oil, mix and serve.

I love tuna mixed with mayonnaise and sweetcorn on pasta - lovely both warm and cold, so leftovers can be eaten for lunch the next day.
Roasted vegetables (cherry tomatoes, courgette, mushrooms, onion and peppers) drizzled with chilli oil before being put in the oven - the oil should be enough of a coating for the pasta, so you don't need additional "sauce" as such. (Particularly nice topped with some grated cheese!)
Broccoli and boursin - we cook the broccoli in the same saucepan as the pasta (put it in a couple of minutes before the pasta finishes cooking) then drain it and drop in a dollop (thats an official cooking measure in the house of Piglet!) of Boursin soft cheese, return to the heat and stir through. The broccoli breaks up a bit depending on how well cooked it is, so it can look a bit messy, but it tastes gorgeous. If the boursin is not "runny" enough for you, add a little oil (we like chilli oil - see the pattern here?!:p).
Chilli con carne. Most people serve it with rice or on a jacket potato, but we love it stirred through pasta - like bolognese, only spicier and with lots of added veg and beans - yummy!:T
Lastly, we love a simple tomato sauce with some boursin added, which makes it a creamy cheesey tomato sauce. You can also add in any veggies you like...
Can you tell we eat a lot of pasta in this house?! :rotfl:

For a great cheap snack, we sometimes get a tin of baked beans, add a little chilli powder, then mix with cooked pasta and some cheese on top. Both my children like this, not too much chilli powder though.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

Personally my absolute fave is a plain tomato sauce. Fry an onion in some sunflower oil, add 2 tins of good quality tomatos (pref lidl), a pinch of salt and a pinch of sugar with a tbsp or so of dried basil and let it cook down till nice and thick. V cheap and lovely
I also like pasta tossed with cooked puy lentils and maybe some celery with whatever salad dressing you fancy - again good hot or cold.
Stephen Leak's aglio e olio and al forno recipes are also lovely
Personally I'd try almost anything with a bowl of pasta though0
