You don't HAVE to brown meat first, but it can help seal it and keep it moist.

An inch of water is quite sufficient depending on what you are cooking but the normal thing is to put your veggies in the bottom, just cover them with water and then place your meat on top.

Cooking on low can be for 8hrs and can be stretched to 12 without fear of overcooking or burning in the case of soups and casseroles.

Root veggies and potatoes should be parboiled before going in the pot, and pulses should be boiled for ten minutes first.

I've just 'acquired' a new (to me) moby from the son of a friend who always has to have the latest model. The manual was long since chucked out and the said son lives miles away so I'm a bit stuck! Have managed to work out the basic functions but would love to be able to use all the bells and whistles too. Can anyone of you lovely peeps help please??? icon7.gif

Right, I will soon have the manual for my sewing machine - I've ordered it for £10! But apparently it has the instructions for the Singer 4000 series and the 6000 series, so if anyone's looking for those in future, I may be able to help!
