back home from town ....... let the non-working day begin. dd11's eye test went well - no change but she's entitled to new frames so we wil arrange for her big sis to meet us this week and help choose them. If you could see me you'd know I have no stye or fashion sense and this pair will see her into the start of high school so must be perfect. Went up to the hearing clinic and pretended to be a bit vague as to when our appointment was and as there was no one else there she saw us then. Good and bad news there - the right ear is still good with the grommet in place but the left one is coming out and she has got mild hearing loss in that ear. Quick trip to LIDLand bought loads of seeds - there 29p for small and 49p for large at the moment. I used some last year and they were fine.

plans for today are bread, garden, knitting and defrosting the veggie shepherds pie for tea tonight
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

Scuzz & Celyn- I'm a pocket dragon collector too - I had a lot of the pins but sold them on ebay about 5 years ago when there was a bigger demand for them - I'd also managed to pick up a really rare dragon at a boot fair for £11 still boxed and sold him on ebay (it broke my heart to do so but needed the cash) for £485 (Sir Smythesby Smoke). I've got "you can't make me" too - he's rather cute (mind you they all are).

Right - I've dusted/hoovered/mopped floors in the living room - washed the window and moved all the furniture about and cleaned out the parrots cage, cleaned out the conservatory, washed the floor and windows, tidied kitchen, mopped floor and cleaned bathroom, mopped floor and washed down the ceiling which was quite vile when we moved in - just been trying to find the enthusiasm to get round to it. Kitchen cupboard tops will have to wait until tomorrow now.

Just about to make a big pot of tea and curl up on the sofa with DD1 and read a book whilst she watches tv.

Shez - well done on your good deed and nice to see you back, I assume you've been to busy baking to post on here, you domestic godess you!

Haribo - Glad you're on the mend - wish my big sister was more like Pink - do you loan her out at all??

  • First Day home as a WAHM! Scary as soon as I decided that I earn enough from home there doesn't seem to be a job on the horizon! Typical.

This mornign I have changed the bedding, cooked lunch for DD and myself and hoovered DD's room. Plans for lunchtime are to do some work (i.e. finding work), although I might have to postpone that till evening and rather have a nap, DD woke at 1:30 am and didn't go back to sleep until 3am and I couldn't fall asleep anymore and then she was awake for the day at 6....

Hope you all have a good day!

Morning all...................((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))) if you need one.

Bad night last last OH was fidgiting, and this morning is complaining about the muscular pains in his chest yet again.............so he is in bed....sleeping.

I have just finished my weekly 'clean through', exhausted..............will wait and see when OH gets up, I might just have a zizz on the sofa.

We had a new resident move in yesterday, she went out at 6am banging all the doors...............if it goes on will have to have a little word with the SHO. I think the other two ladies on this bit of the landing take sleeping pills, they never seem to hear anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!may be we should try sleeping with the bedroom door shut........although I am not happy if the door is not ajar at least.

Not read the thread yet, so off to do that and then see about some lunch..............

Went down to put a load of towels in, when I went to take them out, the machine was still half full of water and I had a devil of a job to get the stuff out............I managed in the end, but now we have 1 washer between 28 of us. I have managed to do the laundry I need to, but hope its not going to be too long before its repaired............
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

Sort of settled into the new house - we moved just over a week ago. I am NEVER doing a DIY move again!!! I just don't have the strength any more to carry heavy boxes and furniture. Trouble is the lease is only for six months so we have to keep on looking for somewhere else to live and there isn't really anything in our price range. I'm seriously thinking of renting a garage to store our stuff and buying/borrowing a motorhome to live in!

This house is absolutely freezing. The heating does nothing at all. Probably because there are very few carpets in the house. I've been round and duct-taped over windows and everywhere I can feel a draught coming through, but it hasn't really helped. There's also very little hot water. It's difficult trying to have a 30 second shower before the water becomes cold. Last night trying to run baths for the children was virtually impossible. I had to resort to pouring in kettles full of hot water. I've phoned the agent and they are arranging for a plumber to come round. Won't hold my breath though - there's a large patch of damp in one of the rooms and someone was supposed to come round and look at it before we moved in, but I haven't seen any evidence that it's been or going to be sorted out.

To top it all I can't find my kitchen knives so I think I left them in a drawer at the old house. I've phoned the agent and they will look in the next couple of days. It's a bit difficult without them though!

Yesterday was our youngest DD's 3rd birthday. She didn't really 'need' anything, but she had to have something to open, so I bought her a Barbie violin which she had seen in a toy shop. She loves it, but we have to keep hearing the same 8 tunes over and over again!

    Hello all:D

Decided to have a quick look on here while I sat down for a coffee. Well I checked my emails first. A week or so ago I decided to buy a lottery ticket online, and it was so easy I bought one for the next few weeks:D Today there in my inbox is a message from them saying " exciting news about your ticket for Sat 2nd Feb, log in to find out more". OMG, my heart started racing, my brain turned somersaults and it took 3 goes to get my shaking fingers to hit the right keys. Finally got there and I've won.................................... £10:rotfl: :rotfl: Now I'm not complaining, but really!!! I think that qualifies as nice, pleasant, even welcome, but exciting:rolleyes:  Oh well, there's always next week;)

Had a lovely day with DGSs yesterday, but boy do they tire me out! Especially DGS2 who is such a solid lad ( honestly, not fat just very solid) and weighs a ton. He's not walking yet so picking him up and carrying him, well puff puff gasp gasp doesn't begin to describe it. He is lovely though, and rarely without a big beaming smile. I think I did well with [strike]indoctrinating[/strike] encouraging him to say nanny. We got lots of nannannannan:D I'd swear the little [strike]traitor[/strike]darling said gandad though:rolleyes:

Not too much planned for today, probably why I haven't got too much done!

(((((hugs))))) to all that need them. Haribo it may be a teeny weensy infection now, but if you don't take good care of yourself it'll grow into more. So be a good girl and watch it;) :D

shez are you going to try out for that new dancing on ice for the public show they're going to do?:rotfl: :rotfl:

    Best get on,

    CM x

edited to say shez that was a really nice thing to do:D I'm a great believer in "what goes around, comes around", well eventually anyway;)

    Good afternoon all !
Been up since quarter to seven..............eyes now need matchsticks !
One of our lads went to his mums, missed the bus back last night (whats new?) also missed early bus this morning so his dad had to bring him back. I could have had extra hour in bed !! OH was out for the count.......lucky so and so...................lol

Then had to go hunting for birthday pressie for ex foster girls hubby........birthday today and I'd forgotten !!!! He's not the easiest of chaps to buy for really so ended up spending more than I intended due to our limit here of anything like Poundland etc. Still at least its done now.
Got a few more charity shop buys to put away for birthday/christmas baskets.......in total spent about £16.47p so not too bad really.
Oh, nearly forgot.............nipped into cake shop and bought some ribbons and then called at card shop for Happy Birthday stickers...........that was another £2..............oh dear..........oh well, definitely 'no spend day' tomorrow and tonights dinner is the same as yesterday.........OH made enough for two days.............oh he is good, bless him.............lol

mioliere - kathy did you post those recipes? If so, which day are they on? as I havent been on for a couple of days. thks
Time to crack on and shake a leg! Have a good day everyone![/quote]

    Hi Shez

I posted the recipes on Friday but have copied and pasted the post again here.

    Byeee!

    icon1.gif
SHEZ - here are the recipes. The almond slice one doesn't give cooking instructions so I just guessed and put it in the oven - about 375/190/Gas - until it looked right.

Impossible Pie - I found the recipe by Aussie Lass but this one was on another post, I couldn't find Aussie's (sorry Aussie!); it's the same recipe, though. It's really delicious and unusual - I like a spoonful of jam in mine!

    ALMOND SLICES

    1oz plain flour
    1/2 level tsp baking powder
    2oz ground almonds
    2oz caster sugar
    1 egg
a few drops of almond essence.

    IMPOSSIBLE PIE

While baking, the ingredients will do the seemingly impossible and change from a sloppy mess and will separate into 3 layers - a crisp base, a creamy custard centre and a chewy coconut topping.

    ½ tsp vanilla extract
    4 eggs
    ¾ pt milk
    2 oz soft butter
    3 oz plain flour
    4 oz desiccated coconut
    6oz caster sugar
    ½ tsp baking powder
    ¼ tsp salt

    Preheat oven to 180 degrees

Grease a 9 inch round baking tin.

Place all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and beat or whisk all ingredients until everything is really well combined.

    Pour into tin.

Bake in oven for 50 minutes or until the top is puffed up and a crunchy golden brown.

Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes before eating (during this time the pie will deflate slightly).

    Serve warm or cold.

    Enjoy!
