Dusty- make sure your tetanus jab is up to date

Thanks for the thought - being a keen gardener I am always getting scratches etc so it is nothing new! I haven't had a jab for about 15 years - I know you only need so many in your lifetime so there is a good chance I have hit that number being an old bird.

New ebay fees from 20th February  cheaper to list in the first place but higher final value fees :mad::mad: which will really penalise those selling low value items like me :( Post costs are increasing in April as well, really starts making you wonder whether it is worth the effort. They use an example of selling jeans at £15, under the old system they would take 6.2% in total fees (assuming you don't have any additional fees like gallery etc) and under the new system they will take 8% in total

Oh and don't forget to factor in paypal fees as well! *stamps off in a huff at prospect at having to rejig approx 150 listings*

  • Just waiting for XH to come and pick DD up and then I can crack on with some jobs, limping as I go. That will teach me not to lose my temper!

I got very annoyed with DB yesterday as he said that he couldn't believe my house was ever clean and tidy. He forgets that I was struggling for 5 months before I met him trying to adjust from being a happy stay at home mum to suddenly becoming a working single parent with no warning whatsoever! And now he just says that he'd rather me have a dirty house than be miserable and stressed with trying to do too much. I give up!!
  • Hi to everyone! I've just finished my first week flying, and the house feels better for it.:D I'm not sure how much I'll get done next week though as we're potty training my oldest son at the moment - we started yesterday, no more nappies, it's pants cold turkey. Does anyone have any great tips for cleaning up those little accidents...? I'm not sure the carpets or washing machine are going to survive! I've been cleaning with a cloth soaked in washing up liquid, then soaking up as much as possible with a clean towel so far. The carpets are pretty old but pale colored (sort of wheaty oatmeal).
    Any suggestions as welcome!
Anyway, whatever happens I'm going to bake a cake with the poor little trainee today as he loves cooking - and at least the kitchen floor is tiled!!!

Welcome Samphire well done on your first week. Good luck with the potty training, a clean dry towel for soaking up is a good idea, we always had a bottle of antibacterial spray close to hand as well. The key thing is not for none of you to get too stressed by it all. We had three attempts at training DS, the first two times he was not bothered at all so we gave up, they all do it when they are ready and not before!

  • Good morning all

It's bright and sunny here in South Wales but very cold.

AnW's Mum - I hadn't realised OH was PC. Big hugs to you and yours

Dustykitten - Love your signature. (Everything's dusty in my house - see last post.)

I'm hiding! I've been up for a couple of hours and done 5GC, WM, DW, CP. SS shower room/ bathroom, washed curtains from sunlounge (can't call it conservatory because it joins main house to extension and not all glass!) and dining room arch.
Dogs, cats, fish fed and we've had our porridge. Still got loads to do cleaning up from yesterday. DS and I have damp dusted lounge and I've given kitchen a good clean, but still got dining room and sunlounge to do and it will all need proper dusting after.

DS's GF's Mum is a pain coz I'm her "best friend" (yes, really). She doesn't work and doesn't do anything much, her excuse being she can't do anything with DD so ill (same as my DS) and a DS who is a pain in the neck. We met the family at a charity ball in Sept 06, and by January they had moved here from Hertfordshire. She hasn't even finished unpacking. As soon as I turn my mobile on in the morning, it's "Good sunny (or wet, windy, cold morning) then some random rubbish like "what are you up to today?" What do you think? I work full time!!! It's really stressing me out. On Friday (in service day here) she text tp say she had hurt her back and was going back to bed when her OH (wet blanket) went to work). Oh yeah, so who's looking after the "really ill" DD with CFS/ME and the 8 year old DS who is a little s*d? Friday pm DS had invited GF and another friend round for pizza and videos. I've ben fighting migraine all week, so took DH to Newport to go off with ACF for weekend, picked up friend and pizza, back to ours. GF text to say "Mum says can your Mum pick me up coz she's not well?" I said no, because head getting really bad, but then I felt mean. DS phoned and GF said her dad would bring her round when he'd eaten his tea. They live 5 mins away, two cars, two drivers and he couldn't say "I'll take you now, then I can have my tea in peace".

This am first text "Good sunny morning to you. What are you up to today?" What do you think? I've had migraine all week and got a dusty crappy house!!! so I ignored it. House phone rang and DS said I was still in bed. She wanted to know if I'd like to go for a drive with them. That usually means my car, my driving, or at the very least I have to sit and navigate, so not very enjoyable when I do about 450 miles a week for work!:mad::mad:

Sorry, rant over, but really

I'm also hiding from my work colleague as she's determined that we're meeting up for a couple of hours today and I've told her I haven't time!

Anyway, DS just getting dressed and wants me to take him to town to return games that don't work, then back to more cleaning and I'll need to tackle the ironing mountain that I haven't beaten this week.

Oh and I had a thing from e-Bay about three postings for free, so I've put the dress from "Theweddingthatneverwas" on to see if it moves.

Back later and maybe less stressed.

  • Hi Samphire

You must be near me then.:hello: I'm in Cwmbran. Welcome. I've got a Vax spot cleaner (great for foster puppies), but a solution of bicarbonate of soda is supposed to remove the odour as well.

NOOOOOO - dont remind me. When I worked in the ambulance service I had to get the guys to pick me up one evening because I had managed to use the sewing machine and sewed the needle right through my finger (actually was poking out the other side - aaargh)

Anyway hi to everyone on this lovely sunny morning. Hope everyone's feeling as bright and sparky as we are today.

DD and I are just off out to walk the doogie, DD to the library and then prob nip into Mr T.

Have managed to get DW on and first load of washing in.

    See ya all later
