Pigpen learn jam its brilliant - I will never buy jam again after tasting homemade.

Well I can go get on with something now I know DS has landed safely, been on tenterhooks waiting to hear from him.

:D pleased to hear he's home safely Kaz, with all the flights cancelled lately (wasn't going to even mention it until he was home!) was a little worried for you, I'm terrible even if my boys go out with their Dad for a short while watching the window all the time...

I just went to go for a soak in the bath (with jacuzzi if the kids are awake still, noisey that thing!) then realised I must have switched the heating off, it's chuffing freezing up there. Maybe after it's warmed up a bit I will get in :rotfl:

My jam is !!!!, always ends up way too runny, well has so far, tastes great but more of a 'sauce' going to try again this year.

Got to make DPs sandwiches for tomorrow (saves money or I wouldn't bother!) then sort his clothes (so he doesn't wake us all up getting ready!) see how I end up doing stuff without wanting to? stupid isn't it. Anyway he's been nagged at to take his own car tomorrow instead of mine like he did today (grrrr!) so I can take the kids out!
One day I might be more organised...........

Ouch Dusty, I hate that, I hate dealing with roses, have you got a pin? Sorry but I can't resist picking them out if I get one :o

How long until summer? I'm sick of having to switch the heating on, it's really cold here tonight again, just feels like ages since it was warm....

Right DPs stuff sorted, dishwasher needs emptying but I might leave that until the morning, half of the choc brownie cake is gone! I've never known DP eat as much cake, he really liked it.

Unfortunately he's not home as he's only flown out today, but at least I know he's landed safely and will enjoy a weeks skiing with his dad. I'm not even going to think of the tumbles he might have or the bruises he'll get - especially as he's taken his own skis for the first time  .

I think I'm gonna say stuff it for tonight and go to bed early for a change then get up early tomorrow and do something for a change.

    See you all then

    Night night

Ah sorry thought he was on his way back not there, confusing myself, guessing your half term is next week too. Goodnight, hope you sleep well. I'm sure the tumbles and bruises just add to the fun.

  • those that have given something up for Lent. Do you do 40 days from Ash Wednesday or do you plan on giving up until Easter Sunday?

Mumofjusttwo - it depends on which religion you follow. I'm a Presbyterian and we do it from Ash Wednesday to Noon on Holy Saturday. Sundays are not exempt for us.
  • Hi all, not caught up on the thread.

Having a really bad day emotionally today so have managed no flying. Did go into the garden and tidied up a bit but some of the time I was sobbing so much I could not see out of my sun glasses.

Kids have started fighting/screaming and smacking each other already and half term is only 45 mintues old. To top it all AF has arrived.

Aw Dusty!! Are you feeling better today luv? xx
  • Hi everyone - You don't even want to know about my day!

Raphael - love the doggie pic

Lil_me - I'd definitely want to know why, but there's a "proverb" that I've never forgotten from one of my tutors at UWE "You can never dip your foot in the same river twice!", in other words, things move on and change. I firmly believe that's for a reason, but only you can decide if you want to go back.

Soappie - hope you've got over your fright!

Likklegibbon - 'fraid the headache's been hanging around all week, increasing and decreasing. It's still hanging around and I've just had another Naramig. (Note to self - Take repeat prescription to surgery ASAP.)

Sorry for all of you having OH probs. Mine just goes awat for the weekend with other folks kids  (BTW - been together 26 years Valentine's Day, and he frequently wears uniform - ex regs & currently Platoon Commander ACF :rotfl:)

I've got Barkeepers Friend too! Brilliant stuff.

Saw a neighbour who lost her dad three weeks ago, poor girl is in bits, is it too late to send a card???
Tracyg - having lost my Mum last year, I would say no, it's not too late. There's always a lot of support immediately after an event, but it tails off. She would probably appreciate the fact that you realise she still needs to know people are thinking of her.

destiny_star2006 - Hello and welcome. You'll have fun trying to keep up. I haven't managed it yet!:rotfl:

No heating on all day today. It's been so sunny that the house is quite comfortable. I know it won't last. It snowed in March last year and the year before. Very

Anyway, the plan for today was WEEKEND Frolics
For those who have extra weekend time and can't function without tasks... lol If you don't have time or want to spend time with your family that is brilliant.. go for it. It is a list of 10 tasks to do over the weekend if you get chance.. no pressure at all.. just ideas and reminders and springy preparations!
This is also a chance to get hubby's and children involved in the flying [IMG]file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/Dren/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/msoclip1/01/clip_image001.gif[/IMG]
    • Extra 30 minutes ironing.. school uniforms? work clothes?
    • Change any bedding you didn't get chance to do over the week!
    • Meal plan for the next week and make a shopping list... based on what you found in the freezer and those things that need using from weekly cupboard sweep
    • spend at least an hour with your family... playing, reading or just watching a dvd and having a hug!
    • Work yourself to level 3 in your messiest room!! (I'm going to regret this one!!)
    • Bake a cake for after dinner.. it only takes 5 minutes.. come on!!
    • Touch up the paintwork in one room!!!
    • [strike]Fill a binbag of things to get rid of.. charity/bin etc[/strike] x 3
    [strike]<li style="color: fuchsia;" class="MsoNormal">15 minutes hotspots clearing[/strike]
    • Clear out your handbag and coat pockets and update your finances.. if needed of course!
    Flipping Friday!!
Those frightening kids rooms and spare rooms
    Level One
[strike] Vacuum the floor, even if it's just where you can see[/strike]
Spend at least half an hour doing something for yourself! Anything you like
    Level Two
[strike] Clear away anything that isn't in it's place, clothes, toys, books etc for at least 10 minutes
Dusting, all those shelves and flat surfaces[/strike]
    Level Three
Strip beds, turn and vacuum mattress, replace with fresh linen
Sort through a cupboard/chest of drawers and get the clothes out which are no longer wearable, too small or out of season (do they need anything replacing?)
Wipe any sticky marks off walls and doors (yes including the handles)

    Extra Mission:
[strike] * Wash a set of curtains, nets, duvet or throw[/strike]
    * Wipe the radiators, skirtings and window & door frames
[strike] * Hotspot cleaning, spend 10 minutes tackling one at least [/strike]
[strike] * Grab a bin bag and fill it with stuff to leave the house. Can be rubbish or charity shop or to donate to a friend/freecycle[/strike]

and to finish off some of the outstanding jobs, especially DS's bedroom. Well, I did get some of it done, as you can see, but DD arrived, as arranged with her new OH (I've been bezzy mates with his sister for 12 years and she now won't speak to me, my daughter or her own brother because she doesn't approve, but she hasn't liked any of DD's boyfriends) and two of his children. He had offered to sand the lounge ceiling, so I had already moved ornaments, taken down curtains etc. Anyway, he's done a really good job, so it's ready for me to wash over and then I can start painting. The bad thing is that everything I've been cleaning (and I'd really got into Flying) is now covered in dust. DS and I have been damp dusting everything in the lounge and I've done the kitchen, but we still need to do the dining room (no doors so it's spread). Fortunately the kitchen door was closed, so not too much upstairs and we kept the curtain closed over the archway to the extension, so not too bad through there either. I've washed the lounge curtains but I'm going to have to do the ones from the arch and the sunlounge window, and I've done all the cushion covers and throws.

My workmate called this morning and is still wanting me to do some work with her tomorrow. I went to a Meet & Greet at Pets at Home with the foster puppy, only to find I should have been in Cardiff not Newport.

DS has been really good though, In spite of his own poor health, he's looked after me with my bad head, helped with clearing up and made our dinner (salmon with pesto sauce, jacket potatoes and mixed bean salad - lovely:T) And he helped me with the fish tank.

Oh well, I'd best get to bed as there's more of the same waiting for me tomorrow, and we have to go to town as DS needs to return some games that don't work.

Hugs to all, whether you need them or not. Take care, sleep as well as you all can and God bless. x

PS On Valentine's Day - best bib and tucker coz DH has been awarded the Lord Lieutenant's Order of Merit for Services to Youth, so DS has to wear a suit and I've to be "dressed accordingly". DH is in 2 dress. It's a great honour and I'm really pleased for him, but not too sure if we end up at Buck House, which is apparently a distinct possibility!!!
