  • Well I don't hoard other stuff but I do have a slight food hoarding problem!

But I can justify it because I only stock up when things are on bogog or half price offers, and I only get things I normally buy. At the moment I have probably a years supply of batteries and a 6 months supply of chocolate biscuits! Sounds mad but the batteries were 8 for the price of 4 and the biscuits were half price!

I think it makes perfect sense!

I have to admit to being a hoarder but in my defence I have known extremely bad times when there has been nothing in the cupboards and my purse was empty.I swore then that it wouldnt happen again and thankfully it hasnt.I dont particularly hoard one item it tends to be a general cross-section.I have a pantry, kitchen cupboards and two freezers filled to capacity. But I do use the items and then restock so its a constantly replenishing stock.I have been trying to be a good girl since Xmas and have freecycled and ebayed loads of our spare stuff so the main part of the house is now reasonably clear. But I cant bear to be ruthless with the kids toys as I grew up with very few toys and I wouldnt want that for my kids.Deep down I think my fellow hoarders and I have a deep seated reason for the hoarding and our stashes are like a comfort blanket for us

    I've been Money Tipped!
Flipping heck, whatamess - that link is a short route to putting me right off my tea! In the picture gallery, the home with the reeking bathroom and kitchen is not clutter, as I understand it, but someone choosing to live in utter filth! Being a bit of a squirrel shouldn't put one's home, family and the whole neighbourhood at risk of raging lurgy! To live that badly would suggest some form of mental illness, not just an over-active sense of providing.

I may have quite a bit of stuff stored away but stored it is - in racks, shelving units, chests, trunks etc. Love that word disposo-phobia but in my case it's more a desire to acquire what has value or use to us. I wish I could 'do' pics on here if only to prove that I can be organised and certainly don't need Kim and Aggie!

Just looked at that link and it reminded me of that programme that used to be on 'Life of Grime'...............covered all sorts from seeking out rats in the garden to clearing out houses like that one in the link. Often it was someone who has a mental illness of some kind and the place had to be cleared out regularly, or it was someone who had died and been collecting like that without anyone knowing. After the death the council had to come in and clear/clean the lot. Not a job I'd like!!

Just checked with OH..............he has still got his racing set.......its a TR something or other..............when I asked him he very sheepishly nodded his head - I thought best not say anymore...................he wanted one for years and I remember him bringing it home and being so disappointed that he'd noweher to lay all the track out..

I'm saying nothing to him tonight about it....................lol Might just leave it and let him have that little bit of a dream that one day he'll have the space to create a big race track and be a little boy again. Mind you, he could do that in our garage if he cleared out all the clutter thats in there............lol

Awww mary the poor love eh :rotfl: if we lived closer he could have brought it and put it in our sitting room which is clutter free, enough space for the scaletrix and hornby sets when the kids get them out, very minimalist, JUST DON'T OPEN THE CUPBOARD!!! :o :rotfl: (Or move the sofa that keeps the door shut!)

I gave away toothpaste and mouthwash today, my mother happened to notice we have spares....she didn't even look where the other stashes are :o I haven't bought any more loo rolls yet, I did however buy 15 boxes of vitamins last week (all the shop had left) for the boys because they were on half price.....but that's saved me £80 so I can definately justify it

Oh and BOTHER!!! I haven't bought spaghetti for a very long time as I had lots, just found some 3 months out of date, of course I will use it but must improve on my dates checking.
One day I might be more organised...........

Must confess to having a habit of hanging onto boxes..........mainly because I have to post pressies so often if I can;t get to my family to deliver so if we have something in a handy size box I keep it..............trouble is, I do tend to keep them year after year after year..........................lol
