    Arghhhhhhhhh,
I am Taffy and I am a hoarder. My son came to visit from Canada a month ago and he said "I see you still have your bomb shelter of food then mum". I live in a very small flat but it has a biiiiiiiiig cupboard off the kitchen with very high ceilings. My husband says the glory hole as we call it has elastic sides.

I used to live in a big house in Canada and had 2 chest freezers and a huge American fridge freezer and they were always full. I now have a fridge freezer Brit style and I do not know how I manage. It is always stuffed to the hilt cant put any ice in it ever.

I have about 7 duvet and sheet sets for our one bed. I have about 30 towels well you know small ones, medium size ones, big ones, bath ones. T-towels don't ask maybe 50. See them brand new in car boots you know the ones that people have given them from New Zealand etc.
Grew up poor and I have to buy food on sale and stock up cant be without loads of food.
Sigh we are moving to a house with 2 bedrooms and a much larger kitchen but no more cupboard space. I am getting really upset and hyperventilating about where I am going to put all my stuff. Making sure there is lots of room under both beds.
Sigh I had a fully finished basement in Canada and everything came in through the back door and quickly down the stairs to the basement where my ex never went. Maybe that is why he is my ex lol cos he couldnt stand my hoarding.

:rotfl: but let me guess jackie 'no old cloths' my partner is always wanting 'old cloths' when he's doing something but I won't willingly part with mine, spotted a MF cloth covered in oil last week in the garage grrrr!!! Oh and one of my tea towels.

He must use old towels or teatowels that i'd be too embarrassed to hang out (cos of the holes lol). I don't throw out any old towels or sheets. I keep them for rags. He's bad for using my cloths when he paints, despite there being plenty of rags! If he was to destroy one of my good cloths i'd have to buy 3 to compensate. :p

We're planning on putting the house up for sale in the next month. My sister has said I can keep boxes at her place until we sell. I have boxes of books. Up until a couple of years ago I only had a couple of books - but then I read on a forum about people's love of books, and how many they had. Now I buy them and rarely read them! Books sounded like good things to have. And i'm sure i'll get round to reading then someday. Only last week I bought 3 more for £14, and they're still in the Tesco bag. One is by Paul McKenna on how to change my life in 7 days. That's a laugh!
  • I'm glad it's not just me then.
I do try to limit stock in hand to one being used, and a spare for when it runs out. Hate the thought of running out of something.
Apart from the shopping where does it all come from?
Why are my cupboards too full to fit anything else in when I tidied them out? They were all neat and tidy and uncluttered and then one day I opened one of them and it was full again and so were all the others.
What's really depressing though, is when you know you have got something, somewhere, but you can't find it. So you give up and go and buy another one. Then suddenly you've got two (at least).
Or even worse than that. You have a clearout and get rid of all your 'excess'. Then the next week (or month) you actually want something that you don't have anymore because you got rid of it (on the principle of I've had xxxx for xxxx and not worn/ used it). Saddest thing I ever threw away and needed later was one end of a wooden curtain pole (you know the bit that screws to the wall and the pole goes through it). Had a spare for years and chucked it on one of my sort outs. Week later found out my sister needed ONE.
One day I will be clutter free and organised.

Brace yourselves.... I have exactly three loo rolls in the house. For three years I had mountains of loo rolls in the spare room, first it was bogof Nouvelle, then Charmin, which ran out last week. I am waiting to pounce on another offer when I find one, so in the meantime am having to do with normal priced rolls...
I had to get rid of EVERYTHING last summer due to a house refurb ready for baby. I hate not having stashes, especially food. Although I probably have some sort of baking stuff stash in the kitchen. I'm not sure as it all lives in a corner cupboard that is the most unusable piece of furniture in the world - I can only reach the front of the bottom shelf - the rest is a mystery!
I did have a pleasant surprise when I found yet another donated box of baby clothes in the spare room, it was like a really cheap carboot experience, to keep me going till Easter...

When I go to the supermarket it looks like i'm buying for Noah's ark. I usually buy 2 of everything. I don't like the thought of being down to my last one (of anything).

When I come home from a food shop I always wonder if I'm going to be able to give each item a home  :rotfl: .

Apart from 12 large tins of Heinz beans (£3 for the lot in Asda, dh won't eat any other kind) and the 3 big jars of home made pickled onions, I have nothing much to declare.

MIL on the other hand has all sorts of stuff. She left 18 tins of sardines in the cupboard when she went on holiday as my nephew who lives with her said he liked them (he doesn't like them that much :rotfl: ).

Today's haul (brought back to my house, oh goody  ) from MIL's decluttering programme is a brass jam pan, and a huge old cooking pot. I think it's the type that hung over a real fire as the handle has a kink in the middle to hang it off something. Apparently dh is going to cook lobsters in it......

Haaa, I knew you were all out there somewhere,:rotfl: I can also confess to a stash of loo rolls (I like a good 3 ply and get them when they're on offer!):D

I also have at least 30 books in a cupboard i haven't read yet - I have to stay away from charity shops or there'll be more!

Compared to some of you guys I'm an amateur!
