I've had a cheap quote from Bullseye through confused.com. I've never heard of bullseye. Has anyone else? Their own website says they're new to insurance but part of Swintons. Is it worth paying more for a known firm?0

Tried moneysupermarket. Entered all the details for the car and two drivers.
Came to the screen where you are supposed to click that you accept their T&C. I don't accept until I've seen what they are, so I click to see. Says will go to non-secure area (so I agree). Read them, their OK. I click to close the page and, bingo, instead of taking me back to the secure area it closes the browser. All my details are gone and there doesn't seem a way of retrieving any data.
Rubbish!!!!! Waste of b
time.
And have just seen this thread as a warning to those who are concerned about such things:

Is it possible to switch if you are in the middle of a claim and still be considered as having no claims, it isn't clear that I will be held responsible and I am getting fed up with the lack of feedback from the current insurer which is why I want to change. Not because I am the middle of a potential claim0

I too just renewed with a big saving.
Think the renewal quote was £230. Took the steps in described in the article, then compared the quotes against quidco offers. For me Prudential was in the top few quotes anyway (at £250), but when combined with the £95 quidco cashback it went flying to the top.
As a bonus, my AA renewal was due at £120, but the Prudential deal includes Green Flag breakdown & recovery.
So I effectively saved about £195 for an hour or so. Very pleased. Just hope Green Flag performs as well as my AA experiences...0 -

A friend of mine had an incident where a kid, looking backwards, ran out between two parked vehicles and bounced off the side of her car, shaken but not stirred.
She reported the incident to her insurance company. She then found herself stuck with her existing company awaiting a potential claim; even though the kid's parents appeared to be sensible and not part of the "claims culture".
No claim ever materialised. It is high time insurance companies took a robust attitude towards claims companies and got back behind their clients, dishing out prompt full and final settlements OR fighting the case; rather than flaffing about for months on end; so we can all get on with our lives.0 -
My car insurance is due for renewal and my renewal notice came through yesterday. It seemed very expensive, I thought, so I checked around as advised by MSE and got a quote for over £128 less than my current insurer. I rang my current insurer who said they would match the price but not beat it. I have gone with the new insurer as my argument is... 'If they can save me £128+ now, why couldn't they give me a lower quote in the first place?'
Thank you to MSE for all your sound advice thus far!!!GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Hi,
My car insurance with Prudential was nearing renewal and I received a renewal notice quoting me £350 odd (they included breakdown assistance even though I didn't want it). Last year I paid about £250 and I used Quidco to earn £100 cashback. I went online to see how much my insurance would be and sure enough it was cheaper (£250).
Seeing that it was cheaper online I decided to start a new policy so that I could take advantage of the £95 cashback on offer this year. I paid last year by making a one off payment so they wouldn't automatically renew my policy. Firstly, has anyone else tried starting a new policy and not renew their existing one with Prudential and secondly, have they obtained their cashback through Quidco?
Does anyone know how long it takes for Quidco to track the transaction as I can't remember from last year. I bought the policy at the beginning of the week and it hasn't tracked yet. Quidco says it tracks within 0-1 days so, should I be worried?0 -
I’ve used all the price-scraper websites and found that my current insurer has the lowest priced premium.
I would rather change to another insurer because the policy looks better - free courtesy car and no cancellation fees/ amendment fees.
I’ve heard that you can get a lower price by haggling over the phone but does this only apply to your current insurer? Has anyone successful haggled a price with a new insurer? If so how much have they dropped by?
The difference is only a couple of pounds between the best three quotes I’ve received so I realise it’s only going to be worth it if the new insurer drops more than a tenner at least!0 -
just cancelled my £17 a month dd with direct line (which i thought was okish)
used greasy palm cashback site to get a quote with the pru.
age 39 , 5y no claims, 96 fiat ulysse people carrier, tpft
quote £147 + greenflag cover + £70 cashback from greasy palm.
tip. try to pay in full to avoid any extra charges for monthly payments.
plus it forces you to look around for the best deal rather than renewing
automatically.(sorry, im guilty of this. its just so dam easy to click the monthly option). once i get get the cash back reckon ive saved about
£120 on a £200 policy. plus with having green flag ive just downgraded my current account with tsb which i only had for the aa cover. thats another
£7 month saving.
mse great website. saved loads just for the price of a few phone calls0 -
"Most insurers are desparate to keep their customers"
Oh no they aren't, at least not Saga. I've had a comprehensive policy with them for a few years, and the renewal notice just came in - £324. Up a little, not remarkable and normally I would just accept it.
But I tried Confused.com and got several quotes in the £190 - £230 bracket. Saga website would not quote me, saying a policy existed with my details. Went back on line, used my and my wife's middle names, and my next door neighbour's address, and got a quote for £195!
Phoned Saga and they were not interested. "Of course you are quoted the online booking discount, the special introductory discount, this that and the other discount" And no, they wouldn't cancel my policy and let me start another, as there is a 30 day blackout!
So I'll be saving 50% by going elsewhere, and when I asked if she was concerned about that, the lady said "well there's nothing we can do about it, is there?"
And we older drivers are supposed to believe that SAGA has our best interests at heart!0
