Using the guide I saved £40. The best for me was with Diamond via Confused.com. I phoned to confirm and complete, they were very friendly and helpful.
Potentially a saving of £129 - SheilasWheels quoted me that much extra?!!?
Thank you

I'm considering using the screentrade £100 cashback
has it been changed to £55 (as in previous post)
Has anyone had success with it ?
how reliable is it ?
should I steer clear ???
Yep it has been changed to £55 now. I got an email from Quidco today saying that they will try to get my extra £45 but unfortunately Screentrade had changed their commission amount without informing them so they don't know whether they'll have any success.0 -
thanks for the reply
I had already emailed Quidco about this & they explained about the change of commission (promt reply)
they seem to suggest you can cancel the deal (if you want to)
I think I will go for the Lloyds TSB (£80 cashback)0 -
Hi i just wanted to say a massive MASSIVE thank you for the time and research that went into this article. I have saved a fortune!
I have recently bought a P-reg Rover 414 after being without a car for a few months and decided to get a quote from my previous insurer Diamond who were very good. It came in at £550 which i thought was ok as i have only been driving for a year and i have 1 years NCB.
But using the four steps i managed to get it down to £345! :eek:Thats a saving of over £200!!!
So my partners insure renewal came up and i thought id give it a go. Hes much harder to insure as he has had a claim and a conviction. His renewal from RAC came in at a whopping £980!
I used Confused.com and got a good price of £594 but the best bit is one of the slightly higher insurance companies phoned us last night and offered us the fantastic price of £450!! Im shocked thats less than half price!
I payed more than that to insure a 1Ltr Metro!!!
Again many thanks for this wonderful site:smileyhea:dance:0 -
It's worth noting that neither confused, insuresupermarket nor its4me include all providers. I have searched on all & none beats the deal I can get through my current insurer Privilege Insurance.
Also be aware that some of the cheapest deals through these brokers have very high excesses - up to £1000.
Privilege also provide good customer service although it is always worth shopping around & I found that getting a new online quote from them was cheaper than the renewal quote they sent.0 -
Hi Steve,
Your advise was great and I got some very good quotes from both the mentioned sites, however one thing worth mentioning is that if someone dumps the existing insurance company midway through the policy, then they are likely to loose the NCD for the current year. Fo eg my policy runs from June-June and if I switch in feb, I loose my NCD for June-Feb which is understandable as the policy hasnt run its full length. But for someone like my wife who has only 1 year of NCD, this is crucial. Hence although my current policy is far more expensive, I will have to stay on it to get the NCD.0 -
Last minute advice needed. Policy runs out tomorrow and not sure what's the best cash-back site to use. I'm insuring a 2004 Renault Megane. Thanks. Reading through this topic it says get £80 back from Lloyds with Greasypalm but when I go onto Greasypalm it says £40. Same with others - says £55 on here but on the site only £27.50. Can somebody explain please. If I had known then what I know now . . .

When I went to renew my car tax at the post office I was given a leaflet. I think you must have this leaflet for this offer to apply as the leaflet has a reference number on it. I rang for a quote, which was competitive, and they also agreed to give me the £50 cashback. OK I may only drive a small car & my insurance is around the £200 mark so £50 makes a big discount. This may not be for people with larger & faster cars if the quote is too high. But for people in my position get to your post office and grab a leaflet! :j0

For our renewal for our old banger today, Tesco quoted us £217. We decided to give Confused.com a try to see if they could find us a cheaper quote & I am so glad we did. They found us the post office which quoted £181 & with £50 Cashback to come back to us 14 days after the policy begins. This works out at £131 giving a saving of £86 which is around 35% & all for a few minutes tapping in a few answers to a questionairre. Thanks Martin for giving :j us the knowledge, if it wasn't for the advice found on your site we would probably have just renewed with Tesco. Many many thanks.0
