just out of interest ......
you don't say who the company is that you ultimately went with ?? ..
and was it on a straight forward price quote from insurere or did you do it through a cashback offer??
Om my own car insurance i recently went through the procedure ...
confused...insuremarket...screentrade etc ..
then double checked a few of the best quotes directly on the insurers websites .. but also considered the cashback deals around . £90 zurich... £100 screentrade .. £95 lloyds.. £50 halifax etc.
it ended up that the best insurer quote was £300 but i went with lloyds at £350 because with the £95 cashback it was by far the cheapest at the end of the day0 -
What cashback site did you use to get £95 back - sounds good!chockychocky :A0

I tried this as well, got the worst quote yet, but that's how it goes. However, word of warning to all money savers, all their helpline numbers are 0870!!Ursula wrote:As an alternative, I'd like to recommend https://www.its4me.co.uk
I was unhappy with the policy being offered by brokers I had used for the past 5 years and did a search for online quotes using google. Its4Me was one of the sites listed.
Funnily enough they came up with a policy through my current insurer (Provident), same terms, same no claims, same everything, but £100 cheaper!
You can make your payment online and print off your own insurance certificate etc although they also send you the paperwork through the post. (I also needed to send proof of no claims discount but that wasn't a problem).
So... simply by changing broker, not insurer, I managed to save £100.

They were expensive with me too (just going to learn to drive and have brought a cheap £40 Rover Maestro for the task - its gonna get a few dents so i ain't spending hundred on my first car)
£1168.10 was the cheapest they could do with Chaucer (who i have never heard off)
Confused quoted me £625 with Admiral
Biggest quote i got was with CIS at around £2000
Went onto Nationwide Building Society and they are willing to do it for £585
and that £40 saved will pay for 15 months of breakdown cover :T
How can they get away with such differing quotes?Debt of £6300 cleared in 5 years, now ZERO0 -
This year I got a renewal quote for £366 from elephant.co.uk I didn't have the usual evening to check - just an hour or so. I got quotes from £325 to £600+ and phoned elephant back as the cheaper quote was from Admiral (their owner). The Post Office one was over £450.
elephant went through my details and gave me a revised quote of £302. And I didn't have the hassle this year of changing paperwork and records and still saved some cash.
Well worth the effort.

Don't assume that there will be consistency in prices between these two, even if the companies are part of the same group!
Got a renewal quote from elephant.co.uk on my old banger, 3rd party F&T for £240. Confused.com said Admiral could do it for £165. Rang up elephant and told them and they said the best they could do was around £200! V. strange.
This means I got a cheaper premium from the same group, for a longer period of cover (elephant is usually only for 10 months). Unbelieveable.

I'm for the £100 at screentrade :-))Bob Terveuren0 -
Hi all.
Dont know if this has been mentioned but I have found Virgin insurance way cheaper than anyone else and, Martin, they do offer free pay monthly installments, I have them on my car insurance.
The form online is simple to use.
