  • been so busy with work i havent had much time to 'play' on the internet...lol..

so when i came to the os board and seen this thread....you lot really made me feel sick...

ok what i mean is i am sooooo jealous.....lol...

so i am going to make a start this weekend...in putting the chic with the shabby in my humble hovel....

i would love to have a new kitchen ( only managed to get oven...hob... and new fridge freezer out of mfi tesco deals )

i cant afford to buy new units, or even new doors to put on there.. so i was thinking of painting them. at the mo they are a dark pine colour.... so i was thinking of a nice cream colour..

has anyone else painted their kitchen cupboard doors ? i was also thinking of removing the doors from under the sink, and putting a little curtain..to start the shabby chic effect ...

i have a very narrow kitchen if i stand in the middle i can touch both walls, but it is long,

so hopefully will not take much ( money) to get it all nice looking..

also does anyone know where i can get a nice shabby chic feel/look ironing board cover...?

I've painted my doors and it was really easy. Painted them with a Homebase satinwood paint. Picture of the doors earlier in the tread or in my blog - http://vivwild.wordpress.com/

also have the little curtain where the dishwasher used to be.
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

thats vivw.... they look like they are the same style doors as the ones i have...

what is the finish like ? did you use a little roller or a brush ? really do like the little curtain.. sets it all off nicely...

Used a brush and it was all very quick. Did it about 4- 5 years ago now and some of the doors are now needing another coat

Love the little curtain vivw - I gave our old kitchen cupboards a sort of beige colour wash a few years back ...........they could really do with a face lift now and the cupboard under the sink...............well to be honest it's well past its sell by date..............wondering what OH will say about a curtain...............lol (and have the feeling our cats will see it as a super hide and seek area............lol)

I have a challenge now, I have just bought my OH an electric relaxer chair, so now I have to find a way of making it 'blend in' with my shabby chic sitting room. The big chair that matches the settee is on its way to a new home.......I am boracic lint, having bought a new printer, laptop and the chair this week............I have one throw, I think in cream and a check piece of fabric I bought years ago, will have to see what I can do with them, might have to use up my scraps and make a patchwork quilt to 'throw over it. Its quite a pretty pale green, but the rest of the room is cream............oooohhhh its going to tax my brain for a couple of days!!!! I have been lusting after a plant stand on ebay to use for the lamp that stands behind the chair......might just have to buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

Yes I do too. I was simply marvelling that the sewing machine manual has survived since 1925. ;)
