I also make little brown paper bag books for small occasions for friends and family!

It is great what you can do with a few scraps of paper, some glue and findings (charms, bits n bobs etc).............

triage, any pics of your brown paper bag books? I would love to see them!

Quick Question.......those of you who have letters (pop for example) spelling out words on walls - what have you stuck them on with.
I had my HOME letters on my mantelpiece deciding if I liked them there and ds3 ran past and knocked 1 off (clean break with a bit of filler you won't see join!!!) so want them out of the way - wall seems best bet!!!!
The joys of having boys.....gets in the way of my dream home!!!!

Just out of interest, where is the best place to get those letters from? I want some pretty shaped ones but unpainted. I'm not so sure I'm steady enough to cut out my own with a jigsaw!!

    Thanks!

maypole - what a lovely idea to have a scrapbook of your life like that.
The best I've managed in that area is to add photos and newspaper cuttings, details of houses I've lived in, plus the town/village of the time incorporated in my family history files.I've one that runs from my childhood to present day, what pets we had, holidays amd such like. I've tried to decorate the files as best I can.........they're just the ring back folders but its amazing what a bit of decoration can do.

I've heard about the paper bag books but never had a go myself. They sound like a good idea and would solve a gift problem.

Went to Morrisons today and they had sets of 3 wicker baskets for £4.99 reduced from £9.99. Couldn't miss such a bargain, could I?

Also got a cream casserole dish for 2.99....another bargain
Pictures are on my blog - http://vivwild.wordpress.com/
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

  • Ok,I have to say this, please stop posting all these links to those wonderful things that I can buy. This site is about money saving and I'm finding it very hard to resist.Seriously though, I just love this thread and all the ideas that are posted.Thanks.

chinatown - love the scrapbooking site !!:j Super techniques for ageing paper, particularly the labels.............I can do that to some luggage labels and tie them to the bits and pieces of my Dads that I'm sending to my son...............brilliant !!

Better add.........one small query.............how is it all the houses in the links are 'chic' and mines just 'shabby'???..................lol
