You guys will not realize just how proud I am of this. I am so incapable when it comes to using my sewing machine, and am trying to work myself up to making curtains for DD's room. But it's true. It's easy.
Huge huge huge thanks for posting stas4949 :j:j:j

So glad you took the plunge, told you it was easy lol I love your fabric..... just wait now you won't be able to stop!!!!! :rotfl: :D :T

BIBBLY Lidl are selling sewing machines for £39.99 at the moment, for a budget machine they are really good.....

Your bag is absolutely fantastic, well done! I'm just busting to have a go, hopefully I'll have some time tomorrow. If this thread wasn't so good I'd have time to do it today!

just sitting here (at work!) reading back through past posts and had a brainwave!

I have a little passage between my kitchen & bathroom with a cupboard with louvre doors on its pine at the moment but thinking about painting it white/cream and putting shelves in to make into a kind of a larder etc, then i could do without one of my kitchen cupboard and have the open shelves/unit that i long for!!!

Do you think this would be practical etc? and NEgirl fancy a project??

I cant wait for my lunch break...only one little street of shops here but 2 charity shops!!

lol i think its a fab idea - tell me when and i will be there, sledge hammer in one hand and paint brush in the other! :rotfl:

Gosh, I never expected so many messages. Thank you all so much. You're dead right, I'm already planning my next one! And I'm also so impressed with myself, I'm going to be making them up for friends - nice to be able to give something I feel they would all love for once!
The material's great - found it in my last rummage at Trago. They always have something cheap to suit.
Thanks all. Do post pics if you make your own.

nomoney: your passage/larder idea sounds a great use of the space. Get going!

Bibbley-I would borrow. They are all basically much the same, aren't they? Go for it.

  • Please ladies, don't let this poor little thread die - we'd miss it so much. More photos and thrift shop finds would soon put it back on its feet again!
  • Remember the little cupboard I bought? Well look at it now...

I am so pleased with it.I used Dulux non-drip satin in Full Moon as I had half a tin left from something else! I wanted a really shabby finish as that way I won't be bothered when my daughter isn't so gentle with it!So I really rubbed it back.

It's had a coat of Coloron liquid wax and I lined it with some Cath Kidston wallpaper we had left over. So all in all it cost me £8!!

P.S. I've scraped the windows since I took the photo too! I still have a few photos to post of my charity shop finds but I'll save them for tomorrow to keep the thread going!!
  • Sleepy Lady I am not sure we would let this thread die. lol!

    That's lovely vintagepleasure.

Some of you might remember me saying
    here
that I was green with envy about haribo's cabinet, well I found one yesterday:T the shop wanted £60 but we paid £50. I'll be happy if it turns out half as good as haribo's.

We pick it up tomorrow so I will do some before and after pics.

sleepy-lady is right we need some more pics here :D
Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)
