NE Girl: tee hee: you should see the height of my car boot pile. There have been none near me yet cos of the weather. Also got my DH to agree to get rid of our old garage forecourt dinner plates (no kidding!) so I can buy some of the Tesco's Circus spot china. Yippee!

    Re bag patterns.
Lat summer somebody posted the 'Morsbag' details and I have been steadily churning them out ever since as they are quick and simple to make but sturdy and practical at the supermarket.
You could customise it by adding a gusset so that tins etc travel better, or an extra 'safety' pocket inside, but the basic model works well as a replacement plastic carrier - and earns me 1 green point from Mr T at each use.

Have you got any pics of the ones you've made? Would love to see them.

STILL have not got my head around flickr :o , but I used IKEA striped cotton in beige and red for my favourite (From a bargain sack of remnants) and am giving everyone else red and white check ones.

I must do the Flikr thing (real techno phobe here) as I want to show everyone the lovely plate rack my kind dad (75 & born OS) made for my birthday, my painted bedroom furniture, my bargains... oh, and the cut off trolley I promised to photograph for you weeks ago :o:o:o

I love this thread, it has given me so much to think about and do while I am trying to get used to my RA.

At some point on this thread, a couple of you talked about starting a blog.
I've done this, as I'm keen to use it to selfishly inspire myself to get on with my shabby chic projects.
However, I'm really stuck with how to make it look pretty.
I know this isn't the place, but is there somewhere I could go to get friendly advice? I've tried searching the forums, but can't find anything. And I can't find the earlier posts about it either. I've used blogger.com if anyone's done the same?
    Yours in pathetic hope :o

have you created your account yet for flickr, by signing in to Yahoo?. I am not very good either but I created an account and with the help of someone on here I can now add photos and link them on here.

I candream, you can customise your blogger template yourself, I've done it on my own blog and that of a friend - it's not difficult, but it can be fiddlyish (there are a lot of free graphics out there you can use)

Blogger have a great help group, you'll find a link on your sign in page, lots of people will help you there.

Failing that there are free blogger templates you can find out there, one of which you may like.

I customised these two from the basic pink template they offer you at signup:

Is it just me but I find the tote bag tutorials REALLY hard to follow ... I don't even have a machine yet and I know that I am a total sewing virgin (!) but I just don't understand half of it. I kind of feel like I'm better off cutting out the fabric and just giving it a go myself, without trying to follow a pattern, or am I being REALLY naive?!!!

Luxor4t - perhaps you could post a really really simple "idiots" guide to making a tote?!!

  • Vintage pleasure, sounds like you got some lovely bargains.

Bibbitybob, I wish I had a friend like that.

I was going to spend the day sanding down a few things and lining a few old wooden wine boxes so I can keep napkins in them. But I have to wait for the Virgin Media man, which means sitting at the front of the house (tiny room) as I can't hear anything if I go too far back.:rotfl:So a pretty much wasted day here, although I am knitting some squares for a baby blanket.

Have also been tinkering with my blog too.

It was spotty, but I have decided to keep it simple with one colour throughout and a few added widgets. Very easy to do once you go into the settings section and play around.
Anyone fancy buying my degree? It will only cost you £18k.

Hiya, was just snooping at your lovely thread and saw the above post, hope the link to Jaycotts works - the binding feet are at the bottom of the page. They also do feet for specific machines if you click on the links at the top.

I have a binder like this for my Bernina but find it a bit of a faff to use to be honest although I don't have miles of binding to try and stitch on, I don't tend to 'do' household textiles unless I have to ;)
