Regarding the link to the bag pages we were in one of those lovely shops that do shabby chic stuff, you know the kind of place where you want to buy everything and there was a very pretty red gingham bag, no lining just a flat bag style very simple and it was £12.99:eek::eek::eek:

well my mum has very kindly bought me two dining chairs for the grand total of £4.. £2 each how good is that
they are very dark at the minute but have lovely straight backs and little arms with lovely green tapestry seat pads,
im going to paint them though as they are to dark.. but i think they are veneer and not wood.. what should i do with them.. just give them a quick sand as a key and then emulsion and then stick satin wood on ??
    what would you do..
im thinking of doing them a creamy greeny colour

This is a good little book here

jamtart could you make some christmas bunting, stockings or a cushion? Or how about covering a canvas with it and then stitching 25 little numbered red/green/cream pockets onto it ready for your 2008 advent calender??

  • Hello  ... i know this has been included somewhere in these pages but im having trouble tracking it down.
Im in the process of sorting an old pine table and chairs out. Ive done the sanding and am aiming to beeswax the top and paint the chairs and bottom of table in Farrow and Ball oil eggshell.

Anyone got any ideas on the colour of paint to go for...to get that antique white/ cream look?

    Hi teenyweenyspender,

F&B Dimity seems to be a popular colour amongst the shabby chic'ers.

Vintage Pleasure uses it in her home, and Muppet81 used it on her kitchen - and they both look fab - there are some pictures earlier on in this very long thread :wink:

I'm appealing your all your expertise......I need wicker baskets for the bottom shelves in my utility/ pantry area. Where is the best place to get them?

Ikea do wicker baskets, they do lovely galvanised zinc baskets too, very shabby chic.. Au Naturele is always worth a look too.. other than that sometimes it's just hit or miss to find them as branded stores, like BHS etc can charge quite a lot for them sometimes.
